Ok-So this build has been "in the works" for a LOOOOOONG time, I'm just finally getting to "get busy" on it for reals and I also finally have a decent camera so I can snap pix of every screw/wire crimp for yall.

Ride: 2006 Chevy 2500HD Duramax Diesel 4dr/quadcab/BigAssSOMMABITCHIN 4X4TRUCK.(it's the topic title, did you miss it somehow?)

System:

Front Mids: Infinity Kappa 6 1/2" coax

Rear Mids: Infinity Kappa 6 1/2" coax.

Subs: 3-Kicker L7-8's (dual 4ohm)

Sub amp: Kenwood KAC 9152D 1800w Monoblock

Mid amp: Kenwood KAC 8452-4 chann.

Xstatic Battcap 800

Stinger Platinum Dist. block.

0/1ga power front to back

(Maybe) an Audio Control Epic-160

Runnin some 0/1ga wire.

Here's my "custom" (ghetto/homemade) wire puller. Essentially just a random ass piece of bent steel rod that I can wrap a straightened closehanger around and use to pull the hell outta a 0/1ga that won't thread thru the firewall w/ out mucho pulling. I wrapped it in an old sock to be easier on my hands.

GM sidepost in gold.

Posted Image

Threw some fatmat on the back wall

Posted Image

Here's the 1st box I buit him just to get him HOOKED on audio and convinced I could fit something in there despite the limited space-It's 2 Credence 8's (round kicker solobarics)

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

So once I had em convinced I could fit something cool in there...he got all excited and wanted to go as big as possible. So...my other buddy and I hooked him up on his Bday with 3 Kicker L7 8's I found for not that much BNIB.

Posted Image

No usable space under seats....GREAT!

Posted Image

Posted Image

So it's all "magically" gotta hide itself behind the seats...box, amp rack, and electrical. oh fun.

New Box: 3-L7-8's, lil under 1.5ft^3 net, sealed (that's .5ft^3 per sub)

Posted Image

Posted Image

The amp rack spans the whole back wall of the cab.

It doesn't sit on top of the box, it is/will be mounted to the back wall via 8mm bolts/nuts from inside the back wall sheet metal/interior back wall, and hover about 1/2" above the box.

More box buildin...

Posted Image

Checkin fit on Box+Rack+Battcap

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

What fun would this box be w/out...PLEXI!

Posted Image

Posted Image

3/4" acrylic

Posted Image

BUT..

The place I got the plexi said they only had a 30 and 45degree angle jig....so they couldn't bevel it for me.LAME.

OK fine so I made my own damn jig.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

And then I chopped the piece into 3 inserts.

Hells yea I'm lightin this beezy up!

If you see plexi...there WILL be lights.

I wouldn't replace a perfectly good piece of 3/4" mdf that was already cut to fit nicely w/ sub holes and all, with a $150 piece of plexi just so you could see how small the interior of the box is, it's gettin lit up fasho...and I have some tricks for that one too.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

So...I jigged out some cut outs from the underside of the box in the shape of a 15" neon tube for each sub/section.

Posted Image

I had to mod/chop down the neon tubes cuz they were a lil bulkier than i wanted so just roto-zipped off all the non-essentials.

NOPE.

Subs will be mounted to the plexi which is set IN 3/4" from the edge.

There will be a trim piece surrounding the plexi and subs to hide the screws/ugly edges/glued areas behind the plexi and everything inside and out will be covered nicely. Just stay tuned I'll have more pics as I get time. I have like a billion pics and this bish aint even put together yet.

Did a lil more w/ the plexi inserts today and decided I'mma switch em to 1/2" plexi instead of 1/4". Thin stuff is too prone to cracking when screws go thru to clamp it down and I dont trust glue alone.
