CHINO11550 Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 Is there a difference in SQ or is there clipping by using one or the other input jacks on the ipod, i was just wondering because i have both in my ride but i only use the USB but i would like to use the head phone jack during Bass Race because of the pause on the ipod is better than the pause on my head unit. kirill007 Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 USB= Digital, jack=Anaolog. USB is better quality then jack. Thinking is the root of all problems... You ALWAYS get what you pay for.
Torres Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 you'll be find to use your headphone jack for competing. that's what i use. besides the fact that i dont have a usb port on my cd player lol
Boon Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 USB= Digital, jack=Anaolog.USB is better quality then jack. Wtf? I'm yet to find a headunit that can genuinely stream digital audio off an iPod. Alpine claim they do it with the X001's or whatever but I'm a bit skeptical. Using the USB connection (well actually the dock connector) pulls the signal from the iPod's Line Out which bypasses the internal headphone amp. The line out will deliver exactly that, about 1v. The headphone output will deliver something like 2.2v p-p but it clips on the last few mm of the volume control. Since you already have an amplifier there's not much point putting another one in the way, so use the dock connector 10.x volts fo' life!
Rogers Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 i had an x001... the signal from it to the hu isnt a headphone jack... it plugs into the bottom of the ipod.... you hook it up to your head unit like you would hook it up to you computer to put music on it..... and from then on the ipod screen just says alpine and the headunit takes over full controll of the ipod... http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/79921-rogers-700-dream-car-update-page-17-a-wall/?p=2335774 93 Saturn SC2My system4 SA-15's Walled 2 Cerwin-Vega S2000's 3 Kinetik Hc2000's Dual 200amp alts. you guys done with the peepee touching contest or do I need to end it?
