Mac58 Posted September 10, 2009 Report Posted September 10, 2009 Ok so I have been reading up on wiring batteries together, from the hood to the trunk and everyone says run a positive, and ground from your fron bat (if you cant run ground then ground near bat in trunk). Ok I get that. But what about the fusing. I was on Mr.Meades build of the civic and he didnt fuse before his second battery. I know people have dif ways of doing things but this seems pretty clear cut. Is the second fuse before second bat just to an extra safety precaution or is it MANDATORY? If your wire happens to get chaffed and rubs to ground, your front and back fuse should blow isolating the power sources and will be alot less likely to start a fire. With a front fuse only, your rear battery bank will still be feeding the wire that has been damaged and shorted to ground... The issue with running 2 fuses it the extra resistance it will add in line. I find it's a good idea to double up the runs of wire to overcome the added resistance and to prevent a voltage drop...
