O.K. so i started or tried to design the box for the burb.....every calculator i have tried gives me a negative # for my port length....I want to do a square port at the top of the box and unless i go with a very large square or several large ones is when I get a good number. I dont have alot of room to put alot of ports so I guess back to the drawing board....didnt want to do a slot port as those take up alot of space.....any ideas????

the last one I got was a single square port 12 x 12 x 3.29" long in an enclosure 24 Ft cubed tuned to 35 hz...sound good for daily?????

Tune em lower! Get shit shakin, go with like 30 hz. Consider using aeroports as well. They really do make a noticeable difference in response.

A couple links to some box builds:

Its just that the aero ports take up alot of space on the face on the enclosure and I want to be able to do a switchable port one for the lanes and one for daily.....

EDIT:when I tune it higher for spl is when I get into the negative #'s for the port length either square or round....

What you could do is have a series of aeroports running along the top, and have a number of them plugged for DD use, and then adding the extra port area by unplugging the ports will automatically tune the box higher and give more port area.

So this is what I now have....

4 6" x 1" ports for 49 hz spl

4 6" x 9.72" ports for 30 daily....

EDIT: I wanted to do just one like steve has in his to save space actually two just different ones for each purpose......

I hate figuring boxes and shit like this give me some wires to connect......:(

you are not even close to the right amount of port area.

your 12"x12" port is not even big enough for just 2 of the woofers.

You need about 350-400 sq" of area.

You could do 10 6" areo's

Ill try to work something up later.

And i'd say 24cuft is a tad small for those woofers.

I would appreciate that I am at wits end with this I have never done anything this large and trying to do a switchable port for it.......I was using RE's specs for the subs at a min of 6 cu ft ported per sub could do 9 per but i am trying to save some "trunk" space
