Stephen
Im not so knowledgeable about all these types of PCI slots. :01nocomment8so: but i just bought a new computer and want to add a video card. i opened up the computer and found i have 2 OG PCI slots. one pc1 1x (taken by my wireless card) and on that is labeled PCI E1 16x. Ive been looking on newegg and i see "PCI 16X " and "PCI 16X 2.0" what one do i need? im assuming PCI 16x. Recommend me a video card. i would prefer a 512mb but i dont think its really necessary. i dont play games on the computer so the most demanding thing i would do is watch youtube in HD. top slot is labeled towards the back of the case 1x lot is labeled above the slot and pci1 and pci2 are labeled below each slot. bunch of pics. audiofanaticz
If you have a pci-e 16x slot, you need that kind of video card, however a pci-e16 2.0 will work too, it just wont run at its max potential. I want to say a 2.0 is compatable in a regular pci-e 16 x slot, but a pci-e 16x card will not work in a pci-e 16x 2.0 motherboard. Im currently using a pci-e 16x 2.0 card in just a standard pci-e16x motherboard with no issues.
S15_Silvia
Yes, the black PCI x16 slot is what you want to be dealing with. As far as the video cards themselves, you could go with either a regular x16 or x16 2.0 one, you won't notice the difference. (they will both work in a PCI x16 slot.) If HD YouTube is the most demanding task you have, I recommend the following: Gigabyte 9600GT 512MB If you need help installing anything, shoot me a PM. S15_Silvia
but you want a new one so here you go.... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814187072 the card linked above me is SOOOOO much better in GAMING . but for internet surfing and watching movies theres no difference whatsoever. I would still not for the life of me buy anything from Sparkle. And the 9600GT is by no means a power-hungry card... S15_Silvia
sparkle is just a OEM car with their boxing =| its no different whatsoever What I'm referring to is the lack of customer service from that company. Plus the huge rate of DOA cards they happen to make... I always recommend XFX and EVGA to people...bulletproof warranties and good shit overall. XFX stepped into the ATi market now, so now people can get ther HD4xxx and HD5xxx cards with no worries. ASUS and Sapphire are also good for the ATi folks.
