skittlesRgood Posted November 23, 2009 Report Posted November 23, 2009 it depends on the crossover point. if you go too high then the sound wont be omni directional and all your midbass will sound like its on your right. so imaging would be off. Neel Posted November 23, 2009 Report Posted November 23, 2009 General rule in car stereo is that you want to keep all your speakers as far as you can in front of you and keep their path length differences as equal as you can. If you care about having a sound stage , don't put your speakers there. It is a terrible idea no matter where your set your crossover point. You will be able to localize the sound coming from the center console no matter what frequency or slope your crossovers will be set at. It will turn into a simple level issue, the center console speakers are playing at the same level as the door speakers and you are closer to the center console speakers because your sitting right next to them.. so guess what speakers you will hear primarily? I am assuming your also going to be running door speakers as well? In that case you are going to have some crappy phasing issues. You will never see a thinking man put his mids there... You will never see a thinking man put his mids there... when i measured the side of the center counsole to the headrest then measured the door speaker to the headrest it was very close to the same measurement thats why i was thinking of doing it. i have never done this before and don't personally know who has, but to me it just makes sence, IDK. i just wish i knew for sure if it would work before i cut a hole or 2 in each side of the side of my center counsole "i'd rather die like a man than live like a coward" quoted from Tupac
Nic Posted November 23, 2009 Report Posted November 23, 2009 i built one for my f150 and housed to 6.5 mids.... sounded great Full eclipse system is next on list.. soon to gut and redo the honda as new project/rolling buissness card i miss the sound of those old school strokers on beast amps
