do subs really need to be broken in

Recommended Posts

I did an experiment with my level 5s and not broken in I get 3 burps but breaking them in with a 20 hertz note at low power I got 8 burps so go figure.that was with 4 powerbass 5000s also

i like this experiment! :)

what i would really like to know is how in the hell do you have all that bangity bangity goodness behind you and not ever ever reach for the volume knob to see what she's got. Do you wait three weeks to make a move on a chick too?

Depending on the woofer I will free air them for like 20-40min to loosen them up on low power(no more than a couple hundred watts, that's for big power woofers btw). I've just always done that and in 9+ years of having systems I've only blown 2 woofers out of the 75+ I've tested or owned. Granted that has a lot more to do with my install itself but who knows, the short break in may have played a role in it.
