Hunters21w Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 I have a 99 Pontiac Bonneville, my doors have 1 4" speaker and 1 tweeter in each door. Im lookin to upgrade from 4s to 5.25s or 6.5s. Will I have enough depth to fit these or will I have to make an adapter to fit it? Help appreciated, thanks. AI James Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 most likely youll need an adpater if for no other reason but for mounting to the surface itself. depth just measure accordingly Quote

Hunters21w Posted December 3, 2009 Author Report Posted December 3, 2009 For sure. I actually plan on doing a build log soon. I'll have to throw these in there once I start. Any tips on making some rings for the speakers? custommadename Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 Hey, cracker! Nice to see you here. I was able to fit 6.5" speakers in the stock mounting location. I used vacuum tubing as standoffs so that the cone wouldn't hit the smaller hole, and then I used the mounting holes that were on the speaker for a 3-point mount. When speakers can be mounted onto a car using 3 points, they get the bottom two, top hole, and then the first two holes along the top and the top hole also at the bottom. This gives you a 4-point mounting setup that lines up perfectly with a 5.25" speaker's mount. Quote
Hunters21w Posted December 4, 2009 Author Report Posted December 4, 2009 Well it seems that every website I go to says something different. Anyone know a reliable site to figure out what size I do have?
