Kick Panels killed my Mid Bass

Well Im not sure about Haitian Witch Doctor but I did check phase before I came on here and the right speaker was out of phase with the left so with that fixed I did pick up a bit of mid bass but still not close to what I had.

Ive been told that the flexing of the kick panel can cause cancellation behind the kick or something to that effect. Im going to try to stiffen them up or weight them down. What do you guys suggest short of using fiberglass? Sound deadener? Non-drying modeling clay?

Also gonna find some PolyFill.

Grab some second skin damplifier pro and layer the back with one layer at a time to see if you like the sound better. I did mine right off the bat with deadener and am glad I did so. How much power are you running to the comps in the kicks? Were you running more to the coaxials when they were in the doors? Also if you are running the same amount of power usually a comp will take more power to get loud than a coaxial will, so that may need to be taken into consideration.

turn the amp x-over to bypass and the head unit if it has one to off... take a listen... I think you should of done the voodoo way

if u watch steves vids he said to get the best sound out of ur kicks u should put some dynamat/ second skin whatever u got in them so they sound better...

The kicks arent exactly sealed. They have a large gap in the rear. I assumed that would be enough for the kick to act like an infinite baffle.

They have a large gap? That's like... venting into the cabin?

Then you don't have a pod or a infinite baffle. You basically have a free air speaker if I'm understanding you correctly...

North Olmsted... you forgot the mention the correct way to cast the chicken bones. And it has to be done when Venus is in the fourth quarter or you will lose deebeez.

Do this.....

Spread liquid nails on the back of it ( the panel) like peanut butter. Let it harden and this makes the panel much more durable and resonant free.

If you really want improvements cut out your kick panel inner metal or put a hole saw through it. This will allow the the driver to "vent" and you should get a noticeable difference.

Don't forget to deaden back there too.

This isonly assuming you can do this mod. You may not have the inner metal as described so.....

Ive got 50ish watts going to the comps which is the same power as the coaxials saw.

The comps say they take 65 watts RMS but it sounds like Im killing them with only the 50. Maybe its the floppiness or the resonating or the fact that they might be free airing.

Ill try out the crossover deal tomorrow. I have to unscrew my amp to get to the bypass switch. Damn bottom placed switched.
