Think Valet services are convenient?

Recommended Posts

I am a valet at a 5 star resort. Just a piece of advise for everyone, Tip, Tip, Tip, we don't care what the car is, it is about money, don't think valet cares about your phantom, it is the same as a 87 civic. I tip 20.00 when I get to where ever, ask the head guy to take care of the car, and tell him you'll see him on the way out too, then another 10.00 or 20.00, usually never pay any parking fees either. My Ford Fusion sits next to the front door by the big tippers and the valet will learn your name, your preferences, etc....

With 23 seconds left in the vid, does that look like the new Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano to anyone else? I would be pissed if that was my car being drivin like that by someone else.

Most of these guys only make 6.00 an hour. We live on tips, if you've ever worked service you would understand. Valets will pay extra levels of service to people who take care of them. You could drive a maserati, ferarri or whatever it is just another car to us. But if you tip well we take extra care. I tipped a guy 40.00 one time at a check in to a hotel, then 5.00 when I picked up the car and 5.00 when dropped the car back with them. I got a bottle of champaine in my room every night, fresh plates of chocolate covered strawberries, water bottles everytime I got in the car, flowers on the bed, etc...

If you expect the valet to do his job, he will, but don't expecting special. And the stuff that happens in that video doesn't happen much

Well here in Vegas valets can earn over $50,000, sometime much more if they work hard, and they are on camera everywhere they go, so it doesn't happen. Wait til you go see Steve at the Palms and if you don't use valet, you will probably walk a good 1/4 mile to get to the casino from where you will park. All of the nice cars are guarded in Valet so using valet in Vegas is safe and almost a must. You also get so hammered there that you wont be able to even figure out where the hell you parked :D

Their job is to drive my car RESPONSIBLY AND SAFELY to a parking spot and return it the way I left it, not doing burnouts and other shit my car...what do you mean "expect anything special"? I don't want a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries in return for me tipping some kid a bunch of extra money for a doing a $5 job

At my place, and in most places, there are "valet" cars and there are "doormen" cars. Valet cars are usually parked in the garage with every other car. "Doormen's" cars are vehicles that get left right by the front door. When you want the BEST treatment for your ride you give the best money.

I REALLY don't agree or condone what these guys are doing, they deserve to lose their jobs and possibly be prosecuted for their behavior. The place they were working should have noticed tire marks everywhere and should have done something. I just don't want you to think that "all" valets do this, this is a very isolated event.

It is like saying all waiters will spit in your food, I am sure if you treat them like crap and think they owe you great service because you are eating at their place you are wrong. But if you were to be seated in at a table and gave the guy 20.00 and said you just want the best service he could give, you would probably get much better service then the guy sitting next to you.

If you go to a bar and had some drinks, you tip the waiter (probably a $5 job) $1.00 a beer, you will probably blend in with everyone else in the bar. You tip that same waiter 20.00 when you get there and a couple bucks a beer until you leave, you will probably get much better service, probably get some drinks free, I am sure that he would pay more attention to you then the guy sitting next to you. The bar tender doesn't owe you great service. You will get service but don't "expect anything special"

Sorry about the rant, I just don't like being stereotyped.
