Could i power my amp off a separate battery not connected to my Alternator? How long will it last?

Hello!

I have a Kicker 2500.1 Amp and it drains my battery so I was wondering if I just buy a separate battery and run my amp off that till it dies and then use a trickle charger to charge it back up if that would work.

How long would the average battery last off an amp this big? In the long run i just dont want to have to upgrade my alternator and parallel a second battery.

why not connect it to the battery up front then connect the amp to the second amp so the second battery charges lol

if you dont connect the battery to your front battery it will die in less than 30 seconds because it is not getting recharged it will not work. The second battery MUST be hooked up to the front battery for it to work.

why would the amp drain the battery you have now? The battery should charge from the alternator. Do you play while the car is off?

If you run a 2nd battery you should also run off the alternator. It will not last long at all if its 50ah, and you are drawing 200A, it will last 15 minutes before its dead.

and continuing deep draining will make it die completely after only a few days to a couple weeks.
