96blktahoe
its not the head unit. i think its the amp because it turns on just fine but when sound goes through it it puts it on protect mode
huh?do-what?
what ohm are the speakers? are they dual voice coil? Take your speakers out and doublecheck the wiring. Make sure no wires are touching or reversed. Are the speakers brand new? If not, get a multimeter and ohm them out to make sure they are ok. Or get a 9 volt battery and touch each positive and negative to the 2 terminals on the battery. Positive to large terminal, negative to small. That's all I know to tell you for now. Good luck. 96blktahoe
they are 4 ohm kicker comps the black and yellow ones i got some new rca cables and it worked for about 15 seconds and then went back into protect mode. like if i turn the bass down it will work but when i turn the dbs up past -3 it goes itno protect mode they are hooked up to a memphis 1.500 class d mono the speakers are all 4 rated at 600 rms total the amp is 500. the amp turns on just fine but when sound goes thorugh it, it will go red. should it be on input side of the amp or ouput side? i was told that they will be tookin down to 1 ohm is that safe for amp and subs? and yes they are single voice coils Edited February 17, 2010 by 96blktahoe

There are plenty of wiring guides around to show you what it should look like. basically you should have two pairs wired in parallel and then those wired in parallel together.
