baggedon4s Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 I put a JVC kdr-200 in a 97 caddy deville using a metra GMRC-03. The guy comes back, and says the radio ramdomly looses memory. I messed with it, turning the car on and off, waiting 10 minutes or so, and it worked fine the 30 mins I messed with it. He said if you leave it sit a few hours, the memory is reset. I had constant voltage, and all connections are secure. The radio was a demo I had in my car for about 4 months before I put it in the caddy, and never had a problem with it. Ive installed over 150 of the exact same h/u and have never hade a problem with one losing memory. All I can guess is something is bad in the GMRC-03, or its just a cadillac being a cadillac 99 suburban, ranger rover headlights, SS front bumper,roll pan with frenched tag, 2nd row delete,glassed dash..audio to come whenever I figure out what I want.

Only thing I could figure is maybe the factory radio constant power is hookedto some module that shuts down after a while? Wtf? I ended up catching my constant power from the ignition switch with a separate fuse. Did the same for the accessory wire. God damn its hot today. My balls are stuck to my leg.

baggedon4s Posted February 20, 2010 Author Report Posted February 20, 2010 well thats good to hear, It hasnt come back yet, so maybe it "cleared it's self up" Most of the people are too cheap to run the right harness, so I usally put a 2001, 0r 2003 in them and run the acc wire to the fuse box, and havent had this problem. 99 suburban, ranger rover headlights, SS front bumper,roll pan with frenched tag, 2nd row delete,glassed dash..audio to come whenever I figure out what I want.
