.Masta X Posted February 27, 2010 Report Share Posted February 27, 2010 Aight well I had to be at work so I let my friend work on my system for me.. apparently my power wire connecting my amp to the battery was a direct contact.. he didnt use a Fuse Holder which makes my amp stay on 24/7.. next day i try to start my truck it wouldnt start.. even though i got a new battery.. 3k watts on for 9 hours kinda killed it for that day. whats the purpose of a fuse holder? im pretty sure since i dont have one installed on my positive terminal thats why my amp stayed on? not sure but i wonder whats the problem.. and whats a really good fuse holder kind so ima go buy one today for it. thanks in advance! In fact it is pulling zero wattage through it since its not being fed a signal. However the remote is pulling power to turn the amp on. The fuse is used to protect your power wire. bassHZ Posted February 27, 2010 Report Share Posted February 27, 2010 well first of all bro ur fuse holder isnt what makes ur amp turn on the remote turn on is the ignition for ur amp so if amp stays on 24/7 i would be taking a look at ur remote lead ..and as for the what does the fuse holder do thats what protecs ur amp and electrical system from a short if anything goes wrong the fuse blows and doesnt let anything else get damaged like ur amps etc. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
skittlesRgood Posted February 27, 2010 Report Share Posted February 27, 2010 lol a fuse holder doesnt turn your amp off. the remote turn on wire from your HU does that. and the amp isnt always putting out 3k watts. itll only do that at full volume. look at the amp and see if a wire from the + terminal on the amp is going to the remote terminal. that would mean he did it very wrong. cqtama Posted February 27, 2010 Report Share Posted February 27, 2010 the fuse has nothing to do with the amp staying on, but if you dont want your car to catch fire your gunna want to put a fuse in. wherre did he hook your remote wire up to that the amp is staying on? he shoulda just ran it to the back of the head unit. the blue wire that say remote, or amp turn on.
