DylanH Posted March 11, 2010 Report Share Posted March 11, 2010 Okay so I have been looking through build logs and I have been seeing alot of people either doing wood that looks like just 2x4s and some that use wood that looks like ply-wood. Plus the normal MDF. So I was wondering does the wood make a difference in what it will sound like? I know they are probably using some special ply-wood or 2x4s I think I was told you can use Birch or Oak but I'm not sure. MDF is the best wood acoustically to use. The 2x4's are for bracing as t-money said. I have seen people use birch, but I don't know if there are any advantages to using it. I have never heard of people using HDF, but there is probably some use for it in a box. Every box sounds different. Regardless of what wood was used.
