Well, I have to ask... Why do we worry about what another country does within its borders if it doesn't affect us? In contrast, I ask... How do we win this war? What opportunities were lost because of the war?

We were attacked by a militia group within a country, not the country itself. We were given false hope that there was 'weapons of mass destruction' within the borders of the country. We were told the war would end shortly after it began.

So I ask you, what's the point of a military industrial complex? We create war, we increase the profits of those with ties to the white house.

So I ask, where would we be today, had we just tightened our borders, not fought a war out of false hatred and false hopes, and not try to change the government in other countries? Would we be in debt right now? Would we have been attacked again? Would the damage done equate to the almost $100,000,000,000? Would those that have been killed from the attacks have equated to somewhere around the ballpark of 10,000 dead, 100,000 wounded? Kinda hard to tell now that we've stopped counting.... At least I can't find anything that says death counts after December, 2009.

Then I ask, Why do we spend more on our military than the rest of the world does combined? Too late to cut spending on that now... That's a lot of jobs. Bummer though... Had we cut some of the spending on our extensive military, maybe all those soldiers could have been scholars, scientists, teachers, engineers... You know - The people who solve problems and teach people lessons without the violence.

I refuse to vote until the playing fields are fair and not a game of advertisement and marketing. Ever notice how the only people that ever win have a name behind them, or the most money dedicated towards putting their face on your Television screens during election?

I'm not expecting answers.... I'm young, so you old folks can hate away on me... and my next to nothing life experience... But my public education makes me wonder.

I ask myself what would happen if we pulled out of this war now or in 10 years? I honestly couldn't tell you what the future could hold as far as 'terrorist' attacks, but I could tell you there's hundreds of thousands of American soldiers out there that will come back with money burning a hole in their pocket. Talk about a stimulus plan. Is that two birds with one stone? Cut the funding for war itself and let these soldiers spend some of the money they've accumulated over the past 2-10 years IN AMERICA, given the possibility of two or three terms. I'll take the good with the bad, Given we'll have those soldiers with all kinds of issues - Just like those select Vietnam vets that are now homeless, crazy, and on drugs.... But given Obama's health plan it'll be a tell tale of whose side Obama was really on. If the soldiers want help and can't get it... Hopefully somebody is quick to scrap it and smart enough to find something that works - regardless of if kills an insurance company too big to fail.

Oh, how about the Wellfare? Stand outside of a store that takes food stamps and see how many people roll up in their navigators, escalades, tahoes, burbans, etc food stamps in hand ready to buy some food... Those are the people who NEED government funding

And as far as the Constitution goes..... It'll probably take a civil war to fix that too. Not saying it all needs to be scrapped, but I am saying what worked then isn't as efficient now. At the time the constitution was made... Communication was face to face, or in ink. Now I'm talking to people around the world at my fingertips.

We were attacked by Al Queda. Not a militia, Al Queda is a terrorist organization that was being protected by the Taliban. The Taliban was a militant Islamic group that overthrew the Afghan government and took control by force in 1996. The Taliban was allowing Al Queda to freely operate, plan and launch terrorist attacks against us and our alies around the world. We did not go to war with Afghanistan...we went to war with the Taliban to liberate Afghanistan and destroy Al Queda.

Iraq....this is where your WMD buzzword came from. First of all we had enough cause to invade Iraq just on their defiance of the terms set after the first gulf war. The Bush administration trying to link Saddam Hussein with terrorism was the biggest mistake. Not because he wasn't but because it didn't matter if he was or wasn't. He needed to go. And the next time you hear one of your "teachers" claim there were no weapons of mass destruction, why don't you ask them what they think Hussein was doing in the months leading up to the invasion when we were being stalled by France, Russia and Germany. (evidence WAS found linking all three nations with Iraqi oil reserves and has been ignored by the media)

Very very interesting side Namosh. When it comes to politics, nothing is set in stone. It's a big game of what if... So what if? Keep in mind... I'm from the most Liberal state and possibly one of the most Liberal areas (Bay Area) in the United states. Now, I'd say it's pretty fair to say... When it comes to the political spectrum... Anyone from the south/ Mostly Republican region will have trouble seeing the side of a liberal person. Put it in religious aspects, it's like puttin an emo kid in the same room as a highly religious person...

Well, lets see here.... We have a major flaw when it comes to our military - one that we really can't fix now.... Without tons of unemployment. That is that it's too big for its own good. This is first and foremost. Let me put it in these terms. You go out in the woods, camping... You bring along a gun with you. Halfway through the camping trip a threat arises - it's a bear. Though the bear isn't close enough to claw you, or bite you... You take it as a direct threat to you yet... You decide to shoot it.

Now, on that same camping trip... You decide you're going to bring a knife instead of a gun. Again, a threat arises... but you decide that you are just going to remain calm, and forget about the opportunity for violence all together. You're going to grab everything but your food... Which is kept in a 'bear locker' And slowly and calmly get away from the bear. The bear ends up trying to get into the locker, but eventually fails. Bottom line... Bear has to go somewhere else for food, it doesn't get shot.. You don't get hurt.

So what opportunities do I think were lost? I think the opportunity for some people to become educated were lost. The opportunity for 60,000 people to live were lost, and the money we could have spent on our own economy was lost.... Due to the fact that our military is too big for its own good... Something that we can't fix now because it will lead to mass unemployment.

Al queda would be a militia group... So would the Taliban. See, the point I was trying to make was that we weren't fighting the army/ government of a country, we were fighting a militia group... A pretty big one at that. None the less.... Not worth putting ourselves in a financial crisis for. IMO...

The fact of the matter was that there simply was not the resources within all that land to create a WMD... Yet we were lied to by the bush administration. This is science/ Geography. Unless Iraq got it from somewhere else, it wasn't going to happen.

There are many, many militia groups around the world... That have not yet used Nuclear weapons on us. This is an every day threat, whether we are at war or not. Not to mention, if it wasn't for the fact of us spending so much money to become so powerful, they wouldn't have targeted us. We are a prime target because we are powerful. We're not powerful because we're a prime target. This was a choice that we made. Not to mention... The fact that we are at war doesn't mean that they still don't have the ability to gain controll of weapons... After all. They could do that tomorrow.

They would have to finish their term..... So it wouldn't actually lead straight to the unemployment lines. It would give them a while to find jobs. The more money being spent, the more companies need employees. It wouldn't be like demand would stay the same and all these people would just loose their jobs. Hell, and as a back up plan... If it does lead to a problem, why not have the military put these soldiers to work out on the street... Building parks, fixing streets, buildings, cleaning, etc... Kinda like what was done to stimulate the economy during the first depression. Let them stay employed, earn their money and spend their money.
