badfish
ive never had more than one amp at a time before, and i was gonna use a relay this time around until i started looking for one and the diode stuff came up. is it just extra work not required for 3 or 4 amps? sactownstang
It's a pretty simple to install one. I have 7 devices to turn on. (3 amps a eq a few voltage gauge, and some lights). Works great, 4 wire install...... I think 3 amps would be fine without one.... 4 maybe push-in it.....
badfish
if i cant find a relay with the diode in the right position and if i dont need to do it, well i dont want to then

I've tried to follow the chart on 12volt.com, but at the time I did that, I was having issues following it 100%, might there be an easier diagram? Reallunacy
He's getting diode from the fact that relays can let some high voltage slip in when they switch, so for certain applications you should use a diode to prevent it. As far as a diagram, I think there is one in a pinned thread here in this section.
may03LT
Most relay sockets have the diode already in place. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=330-
