cmamtower Posted April 12, 2010 Author Report Posted April 12, 2010 the trouble is now, im replacing the TB and WP on the new motor, but first the crankshaft pulley needs to come off. and the only way to do this is very carefully. wilson broke my damn 17mm half inch socket trying to get it off and i crushed my damn hand. i'll post pictures of the aftermath of the socket and my thumb here in a minute.. so penetrating fluid is on there right now soaking in and im gonna take the motor down to my friends tomorrow and try to get that bitch broken loose so i can get this motor in the car, crank pulley bolt is the only thing holding me back from putting the new motor back in. edit: crank pulley "bolt" apparently you dont get the fact that the subaru was wrapped around a pole. and by the status of your comment, im guessing your mouth is too. chewie Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 thats cause you used a 12 point on a six point bolt.. those sockets are usually a little weaker.. wedge a large screwdriver somewhere on the block while having it in the teeth of the flywheel to keep it from moving. instead of just trying to crank on the bolt with constant pressure. tell him to use his palm and very firmly smack the wratchet.. the shocks usually help break the bolt loose.. if that dont work use a hammer on the wratchet.. then if that dont work get out the breaker bar dont bother heating the bolt.. cause it will expand and get tighter.. the crank wont heat up and expand with it. 91 dodge colt gt.. 4 custom t600 15s audioque 3500d.1 tuned to 25 hz... stay tuned. blazer stroker 15 brutus bxi2006d terrible voltage drop 145.4@38HZ... wL<3bass Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 Actually I lifted the motor in and out of the truck by myself, wasn't heavy just really awkward with nothing to hold onto except exhaust studs and a sharp intake manifold. I carried my 4.3l in and out of my garage by myself the 1.6 was no problem. I broke his socket today, I don't think it like me very well lol Vehicle: 1997 S10 Blazer 4dr 4X4 Exterior: Rear End Bagged, Black Grill, Lifted 2" Amplifiers: Rockford Fosgate T8004 & T10001bd Batteries: 2 Stinger SPV35, Kinetik HC2400 Electrical: Big 3, DC Power 290amp Alternator w/ MLA at 15.5v Enclosure: 4.2 ft³ @ 33Hz 84sq.in. of port (20sq.in. per cube) Headunit: Eclipse CD3200 w/ 80G iPod Mids/Highs: Rockford T152s (a-pillars), Rockford T162s (doors) Subwoofers: 1 15" Fi BL Fully Loaded Wire: All 1/0g Kicker Hyperflex My YouTube Videos My Fiberglass A-Pillar Build My "Seamless" Looking Box Build My DD1508 T-Line Bandpass Build "Seamless" w/ Acrylic Windows (for '05 TrailBlazer) My Stealth 8" Fiberglass Build (for '05 TrailBlazer) My Build For A Friend's '08 Cobalt 15" BL Sealed Off From The Trunk My feedback/references...
cmamtower Posted April 13, 2010 Author Report Posted April 13, 2010 thats cause you used a 12 point on a six point bolt.. those sockets are usually a little weaker.. wedge a large screwdriver somewhere on the block while having it in the teeth of the flywheel to keep it from moving. and this is how i hurt my thumb, by holding a 3/8 extension in one of the holes in the flex plate so it wouldnt turn, finally gave and bent the flex plate and wedged my thumb between the plate and the block. with probably 200 ft/lbs or more of force from wilson turning it lol and the 12 point is the only semi deep well 1/2 inch drive socket i had apparently you dont get the fact that the subaru was wrapped around a pole. and by the status of your comment, im guessing your mouth is too. toytrkdrvr Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 There is a tool available to hold the crank pulley. Maybe you can rent one of these I've used one of these but it will damage the pulley and you would need to file down the marks or it will cut the External belts.
