Whats the best way to pull a motor that weighs about 300 lbs without a hoist? I guess me and wL<3bass can just pick it up out but i dont wanna scratch the crap outta my front end pulling that one out and putting the new one in. I got a front end loaded about 30 miles from here but have no way to get the car there. i would use that to pull the motor but no way to get the car there... lol

alright here is your solution kinda redneck but it will work find tree with a low branch that is really big like a foot in diameter or something throw a cable with the strength of at least 500 lbs and over the branch and then attach that to motor and you and your friend pull the motor up and out and then you just reverse the process to put the motor back in.. would that work for you

I used to do civic motor swaps all the time. Put a jack under the engine. Disconnect the tranny from motor. Undo the motor mounts. Three or four guys with balls to lift it out.

It helps if you deadlift 600 like me

selling my wheels and tires tomorrow in turn for 300 bucks and a set of steelies (slammed on steelies ftw?) to afford my completely stock slow ass motor swap. the things i would do to drive my car lol

are any of the main pullys still on ? water pump? ac? if so double up the belt and let it wind around and bind up on itself to crack that bolt loose..

i was thinking the same exact thing like 5 minutes ago lol that may help with it, but were taking the motor over to a friends tomorrow evening and breaking it loose with an impact. then the motor should be back in the car tomorrow after replacing the TB and WP. then all i have to do is give it some fluids and make sure everythings alright with her. fire her up and she's done. then later on down the road, the rear wheel bearings are shot so they need replaced, then both front axle boots are torn to hell. so thats gonna need to be fixed here soon, but no big deal, i'll just replace the boots and regrease for a temporary fix.

i've had grease dirt and oil all over my arms clothes and face for the past 2 weeks, i'll manage lol being dirty is a lifestyle in the summertimes

new timing belt is now on and motor is ready to go back into the car : ) so tomorrow morning im going to get a clutch alignment tool over at advance for a few bucks and make the bond between the transmission and the motor. then she'll be dropped into the car and put back together. then friday she's getting her drink on (oil, coolant, mtf, ect) and hopefully started up. anything else i should do?

and im also going to have to hook up my electrical (batteries, amps, ect) but maybe thats for after the project is all said and done with. this is the longest i've ever done a motor swap. mainly because im broke and dont have the tools here so have to haul the motor to random places to do things when i find the chance.
