2 - dual 4 ohm subs, best way to wire?

Recommended Posts

complete dumb question...even though the only dumb question is the one unasked that gets unanswered. or for this instance it could be the one asked with no answer=P

I am getting 2 dual 4 ohm subs, should I get a 2 channel amp or buy a 4 channel amp and bridge each channel ?

I've used many multi-channel amps for subs & never had a problem...audiobahn makes some good multi-channel bass amps

In this case, I'd go with a 2channel amp with a 4ohms bridged.....

there isnt a problem with it, just inefficient.

plus if the subs need any power itll be hard to find an amp that can satisfy them

it is best, easiest and cheapest to find a monoblock.

its just stupid to buy something and try and make it something it isnt.

and btw you say audiobahn and good in the same sentence without a negative in there as well therefore your argument is invalid

true, true, but if all they have are multi-channel amps, might as well try & make it work...like in my case :/

lol I know, audiobahn isn't much, but it worked good for me, nice low bass, fan cooled, & really pushed the subs i had, so yea...

I am going to get the Lanzar max 12DP4E they are 500 watts rms so I think that would make them 250 watts rms per channel.

reason for me asking if a 2 channel or 4 channel and not a mono block trying to push the 2 subs is because I think it would draw more power than the other options and I don't have the money to

put in a new battery or another battery/power capacitor. but just asking questions because thats the best way to find out.

I'm not dead set on these subs but I like that I can get 2 of them for 110 bucks with free shipping off from www.audiosavings.com .

I am thinking of getting the Hifonics HFI55.4 because it is 440 wats RMS x 2 when bridged. that and it is only 146 dollars and it comes with a 4 ga wiring kit.

I havent read anything to bad on either of the products I was looking at. but appreciate opinions from folks.
