Power wire for speaker wire

well i got a fused dist block that has 0guage in and 4 4guage out n i was gunna run a 0guage to 4guage reducer for my sub amp so i could use it and if that aint to bad i dnt think it would be a bad shot

but how close most speaker outputs like the one on my memphis i dnt think it will work

but wit beefy subs maby the 4guage deal could work, hell im only runnin 12guage so far in my truck, i need to change it out with that 10guage i got, could get a lil louder too, but my subs already move peak to peak so i dunno what diff it will make really lol

but will bigger speaker wire yeald a cleaner signal? n will it affect ohm load on speakers?

No, and no

Inside my box I use lugged 4ga from brass bolts through the sides of my box. Goes to a 1x4ga-4x8ga distro block in the middle of the box and from there I run 8ga or 10ga to the subs. Works for me with ~10kw.

8ga is good for ~80A pulsed (i.e. sine waves) which equates to about 6400w. So I wouldn't worry about it too much.

how many watts was it u could run threw 12guage? my subs are only 500rms and im only feeding them 400rms so will taking everything out and slappin in some 10guage speaker wire make that much of a diff?

or just wait for rebuild? im gunna use bolts for my speaker terminals next go around since my sub amp only has 1 set of speaker outputs and would make it alot cleaner too

4 gauge is a waste of time and effort IMO. The run is so short and for most daily systems the wattage is low enough that 8 gauge will be more than enough.

I have 8 gauge from the amp to the terminal. 4 wires. Two for each VC. But inside the box it steps to 12 gauge since i hated trying to stuff 8 gauge into a roughly 8 gauge speaker terminal. The 8 gauge is mainly yo look manly

power wire or speaker wire it all works the same. i personally use knu 8 gage power wire like a lot of people on here do.

I'm only using 12 gauge for inside the box wiring up the subs and 12 gauge from my box terminal to the amp.

Should I be running 8 gauge for the box terminal to the amp?

Going from a larger wire to a smaller wire or visaversa the wire is only going to flow the current that the smallest wire allows. Think like a weak link in a chain. The length is only as strong as that weakest link. So if you run 12 into 8 then its only going to flow what the 12 allows. Going 8 to 12 is going to flow through the 8 fine but choke at the 12. Granted this is only if what your running thru the 8 is more then the 12 will flow. Hope that kinda helps.
