the box is custom made for the sub 2.5 cubic feet 3/4 MDF wood tuned at 38 Hz

dont get me wrong its still decent, but no where near how it was in my buddys truck..

the amps wired properly to 1 ohm

im thinking i may have used to small a wire....the sub goes from 8 gauge (coming out of the sub, comes with every AQ) to 12 gauge because the amp speaker outputs aren't too big.

the gain is about half way, but when its turned up it gets louder, but i want to keep it safe from clipping....should i just max out the amp, or leave it with half way gain, 3/4 bass boost, and 1/2 on the other bass knob.

i think its just the voltage, but the lights don't even dim much neither does the interior lights/gauges.

how should i set the gains/bass boosters? obviously i know somewhat how to do this (turn up system %75, then turn gain till it gets distorted/clipped), but maybe i can do it another way (w/o DMM i dont got one)

Well there's your problem. A sub can be great in one car, and suck to high hell in another. It even happens with positioning.

take out the pos 12g and put some real 8 g there

DONT MAX OUT UR GAINS, no bass boost get a o scope and tune it like that

Amp itself cannot be properly wired to one ohm. Your sub has to be a dual 2 ohm sub wired like so in order for an amp to do 1 ohm.

If not, then your amp isn't doing 1 ohm and will continue this subject down a few lines...

First, your gain is not a volume knob. It has to be set with an oscope or DMM and if you search the amplifier section on 'how to adjust gain' you will find nice little helpers. Turn your bass boost all the way down and your remote bass knob setting doesn't matter except when setting your amp gain the correct way, it needs to be all the way up.

Depending on your deck, about 90% or so is good. Follow the how to's in the amplifier section on gain adjustments. It reaaly helps A LOT!

Box I would say is a huge problem as well. After you have made the correct adjustments, move it around to see where it sounds best.

It's really hard to level match your equipment with out an O-scope... What kind of car are we talking about? Trucks are more sturdier than cars that's why they usually sound louder... Cars are more prone to rattles and things like that, that could also affect the sound.

You can also try to move the box closer to the wall... About a couple of inches wider than the box port.

ima go ahead this weekend and run it all on 8 gauge, that may be it then.im also getting a yellow top battery to avoid voltage drop
