AudioQue 12" - On its death bed - NEED HELP

Recommended Posts

Ok so Iv called and called aq, and talked with them, and sent them pics of the sub, iv not had it a full year yet and it now has a issue.

On one side the red wire pulled out and the other the silver wire pulled out.

It was throwing my amp in to protection mold, and i pulled the sub out and see this - why would this happen.

it still works fine, but it need to get it fixed.

as has the 2yr warranty, iv yet to get a answer to find out if this is covered, based on what there site says, i mean the voice coil is good .

anyone know what i should do.??

Looks like the stitched tinsel leads came unstitched, so i don't think there is too much wrong with it. You can get some thread and restitched them back down if you don't like how it looks.

EDIT: Never had an AQ sub but did the tinsels tear through the top layer of the spider?

It doesn't sound fine, it's running on one coil. Your tinsel fell under the spider, you have to recone. It's possible they will warranty it, but I doubt it. Don't send it back to them without an RMA number. Make someone agree that it is a warranty repair before you spend the money on shipping.

I've never seen an AQ before (outside of a box). Are those butt plugs on the tinsel?!

if uve never seen an aq then maybe ur comment was useless

those are direct connect leads with heatshrink to keep them from going thru the hole

(ur butt plug joke made no sense either, lol)

Useless? I suggest that the guy gets an RMA and gets someone to commit to a warranty repair before shipping it back. So instead your suggestion of not trying (because manufacturing defects do not exist with AQ) obviously makes much more sense? If he can get someone to commit to a repair under warranty and give him an RMA he will get his sub fixed for the price of shipping plus still have a year warranty left.

It was a serious question not a joke. Are those butt connectors under the heat shrink? I asked because positive looks like plastic shielding and negative looks like heat shrink with a connector under it (see the two small bumps on the tinsel side?). Again, I haven't seen them outside of a box before so it's new to me, but I guess I should just keep my mouth shut because obviously AQ has a one of a kind speaker that never fall victim to shotty manufacturing.
