why would my sub rattle???

I just hooked up my HDC3 today on about 500 rms just to play with it a lil bit. But i hear this annoying ass rattle that sounds like its coming from the cone. The same kinda noise that you hear if you sat a screw on the cone and let it bounce and rattle around. is there any ideas of what it could be???

loose dustcap??? highly doubt it... possible tear on the surround? does it sound like metal on metal?

it doesnt really sound like the coil scraping or crinding or anything like that. but i doubt its a tinsle considering hcd3s dont have the sewn tinsles. they are direct 10g wires.

Have you tried pushing down on the cone lightly to see if it stops? Does it vibrate with the tone being played or is it erratic?

its actually really hard to push the cone down enough to hear anything but it does kinda go along with the tone. high or low volume

i have the same question mine is doing that too and idk what it is they are re audio and the tinsle is not hitting nothing cuz it has that little cushion

have you checked your ground?

you have oneof two things.

1. a loose dust cap

2. a poorly gaped coil (coil rub)

ya one of the above things happened to me /w the first type-r I had... I heard the rattle and then the sound quality diminished until total shit by 1 week.
