but if were goin off the theory that it can handle such friction, then that wouldnt be a factor. it would more or less stay a within a small range of heat as far as the cone is concerned, but i would think it would at least make the magnet and any other metal parts slightly wet given how violent the air would rip past it droping the temp. but it may also do it inside the car as well..... or whats left of it lol.

I mean, its totally impossible first of all. But if it were, then so many things would occur. shockwaves would build up in front and behind the cone, this would restrict movement. Acoustic tuning goes out the window, literally.

i vote we construct a woofer grenade :D

Well as long as were talking in theory... lets take this experiment into space where there is no gravity and play a 21,000hz tone on a sub woofer. Now what happens ?

haha, I think it would just be easier to taze people with an amplifier output. lol

Gravity doesnt really have an effect.

But are we talking about in a vacuum?

If so, no sound exists, so the woofer can move as fast as it wants and you will hear nothing, get no output, have no effects at all. Except for the woofer breaking because it cant handle the forces of its own movement.

well since were throwin out random scenarios, what happens if i fart into a jar, close it and freeze it for a week?

oh and a woofer grenade would be awesome. we could use sony xplods as the prototypes

Interesting description .. almost sounds like were talking about something else.

You get a bunch of people asking what the hell is that jar in there for?

Are you thinking that a gas will turn into a solid when frozen? Interesting theory

well i was more thinking about what it would smell like. but i dont see why it wouldnt turn into somethin else given the chemicals in it

EDIT: lmao i went to look up the list of chemicals in farts other than hydrogen sulfate, and i found a list of famous farters

even better it says why farts are better than sex LMAO

I think this thread could get quite fun if we included realistic thermodynamics. I threw all of that aside...but here we go.

The motion of the driver would create an incredible amount of friction both internally and superficially. While the suspension would take a severe beating, the cone would withstand the most stress.

20mm of excursion at 21kHz would equate to the cone travelling 1.04 miles per second. (80mm cycle x 21000 cycles per second)

A 1 kg object travelling this speed would yield a kinetik energy of 1,411,200 Joules. If all of this energy was used to produce the heat (throwing the actual cone friction variables aside), the temperature of it would increase 1,568 degrees Celcius. This is also assuming we are using a solid aluminum cone weighing 1kg since paper would obviously fail immediately. Aluminum has a specific heat of 900J/(kg degC). Since aluminum melts at 660C and boils at 1800C and we threw aerodynamics of a cone out the window, this is clearly a serious problem. :)
