Psyched About New Mag

i have heard btls before. they require a lot of power to get them to sound good, at lower volumes they dont perform well. compared to the mag they sound like arse IMO...

i dont need that much output, I for one enjoy my hearing :) i'll pass on that chickens home towers offer.

you can listen to your BTLs all you want they sound good to you, but I wont ever use one for my personal use, so please dont try to convince me to get one.

anyways this thread isnt about how good your BTLs sound, its about updates on the new Mag lets stay on track.

duhhh, if you want a sub that performs better with less power then you dont get a BTL....you get something that does perform better on less power whether its a sub from Fi or any other brand.

i enjoy my hearing too, and i bet its every bit as good as yours.

Chickens BTLs sound good to me and everyone who has heard them you know why? because the whole system is killer from the x-overs to the tweets to the mids and most important the placement of it all. Im not tryin to convince you to use one im just telling you your full of dog shit.

Ill stay on whatever track i feel like staying on especially if your gonna spread your bullshit about a BTL sub.....not gonna happen here. Go somewhere else and talk your shit about Fi.

edit: i fixed the part where i call you a dumb shit. Sorry i was mad but bro the BTL bashing is getting old....and yes you can get back on topic if you like but quit dissin on my favorite and SUPPORTING brand especially since what your saying is mostly baseless....thanks.

ive heard a few people tell me they were completely dissapointed in the new XXX sub and i personally was never that impressed with the new OR old ones......but i wont blame the sub since the installs they were in were not exactly that great. Anyone can take a good sub and make it sound bad and some can make a bad, flea market sub sound good.....

and nobody is arguing this, well at least thats not my argument. mines that both subs in both ideal situations can perform the same, linear wise

I dont have a ton of power to offer the btl, with the power i do have the btl is not an option for me and never will be as your post suggest, "if you want a sub that performs better with less power then you dont get a BTL" with that in mind my measly 800 watts will make the btl sounds bad(as said before)...therefor the btl will not perform better than the mag in my application. so i am not feeding bullshit to you & anyone. you said it yourself

if you want a sub that performs better with less power then you dont get a BTL

you know what i meant.......you were implying that a BTL sounds like mud in general, not that you didnt have enough power for it. I knew you were gonna try that as your comeback :D

The way you talk, if you HAD 2,000 or 3,000 watts you still wouldnt run one because you dont think they sound good.......im telling you and anyone else that the BTL does sound good. If you didnt like what you heard, when you heard someone elses system that had a BTL, fine..ive heard lots of systems that sucked with name brand subs.....im just telling you that you cant always blame the sub.

off topic a little but to break the tension ;) ... at least you can order a btl/bl/q now and not wait 8+ months for new mag :P and you get custom options catered to your application.... options ftw

up until recently theres always been mags in stock, and you dont need options to fiddle with in order for it to sound nice in most any application.

I love the way BTL's sound, and I don't agree that they need 3000 watts to sound good. I have run them on 900 each and they sound great.

I will also say I don't agree that the BTL's sound muddy. Maybe you (Mir) need to spend a little more time listening to mine - all we did was listen to 1 song for a few minutes at 155+. Most people just want to hear how loud it is. It sounds awesome at low volumes and on a wide variety of music.

I have listened to the MX and Mag setups in Mir's car. Both of them have a different sound than my suburban. For what he wants from a sub, I agree the BTL would not be his best choice. Less "impact" and more for just bottom end fill at low volumes.

BTL's are an awesome all around sub for daily listening and the ability to get LOUD, but I agree if sound quality is all you are after, there are subs out there that are better. Even from Fi:

The Q Series of subwoofers is our sound quality reference line.

The older XBL^2 XXX was one of my personal favorites. Those subs have an awesome sound.

Current system:

1997 Blazer - (4) Customer Fi NEO subs with (8) American Bass Elite 2800.1s

Previous systems:

2000 Suburban - (4) BTL 15's and (4) IA 40.1's = 157.7 dB at 37 Hz.

1992 Astro Van - (6) BTL 15's and (6) IA 40.1's = 159.7 dB at 43 Hz.
