no a BTL doesnt need 3k to sound good. I think at low volumes, even 500w on each sub (medium listening level) they still kick ass. Its just where that Mag stops the BTL is just getting started.

Not trying to sell you a BTL though or saying anything wrong with the Mag though....i say buy what you want but dont diss on the BTL with your baseless statements. (muddy, no SQ......c'mon now)

accordman: i dont know how its better to have a sub that offers no options.....i would rather have the options available myself.

up until recently theres always been mags in stock, and you dont need options to fiddle with in order for it to sound nice in most any application.

sorry but this doesnt make sense. the mag is great no doubt, and if you want a plug and play sub that should sound good in most applications thats cool, but i have a feeling the reason so many have gotten fi and been happy is we can call the person making our speakers, tell them what its going in and custom talor it to our specific application for optimal performance , whatever that is. whether its a low end monster, spl beast, or all around sq application. this thread started in the right direction... the new mag is nice and has good specs... but thats your personal taste and it seems others have a personal taste towards options and availability all the time so as meade said...

sweet theres another sub out on the market that will be right for someone... lets not argue who its right for tho...

as far as the whole Fi issue, more people buy them because steve meade runs them and they wanna be like him , then people who buy them because of SQ, IMO. is that a fact no, do i know Fi's numbers hell no. but yea thats how i feel.

I run a Fi sub at the moment because honestly i wanted the new mags and im a Rep for SI, but no 15 mag = me running something else. Being a rep i'll leave my comments about the new mag until i can ACTUALLY hear them rather then off the hype surrounding them as that that surrounded every other sub before its inception

yes megalo sounds like a sq man and as said before, we shouldnt be telling eachother what we should be running cause its personal preference, at least we all have good taste, other wise we wouldnt even be talking about si mags and fi btls

but few think the btl doesnt have a good bit of sq, not as much as a mag, but enough for most...

and when it comes to a company, catering to more consumers gets your product out in cars where it matters... not talked about on a forum while we wait in anticipation

about fi, maybe some want to be steve, but thats hard and expensive. i bet more just want something new and different that they heard were good speakers from a reliable, trusted source and most can't/don't complain

How well do them mags do in IB? could I get enough bump out of it say in the benz to make wifey happy with trunk space but to satisfy my bass needs somewhat Megalo?

well going IB you loose output. it would be less output than a sealed box. so if you have your subs in a sealed box and arent satisfied with output then its probably not for you. however you can gain output by simply adding more drivers to compensate. your power handling will go down in IB application as well.
