Please Help Me Decide Between These 8" Subs

Recommended Posts

Thats right, Im thinking outside the box about running six 8" subs in place of my current set-up of 2 Xtant X2 1244's but dont know which are the better choice. Here are my choices; Arc Audios- Arc series 8d4's, Diamond Audios d308's, Rockford Fosgate's new p2d48's/their last years version of the p310d4's since they stopped making them, or possibly fosgate p210d4's even though their 10's...I found a crazy deal on them at $50 a pop. Im looking for a balance between sound quality and spl that can possibly top my xtants and Ill have them running off an xtant 1001dx(not sure weather to run them sealed or ported yet, any suggestions?). I want to do something differant which is why Im looking into 8's and I have to go with one of these choices because Im in a mobile training school in Jersey that gets half off these brands for students. Let me know your opinions, good or bad and if you want the specs on the subs I can post them up as well. Thanks

Just because its something differant, everyone and their mother has 12's and 15's but you dont see 8's often... If I design it right, the look on peoples faces alone would be worth it when they find out that Im only running 8's and out dropping them... only thing Im worried about is that it would be built mostly out of glass, my current set-up hits 142.4. Also cause I beleive that 8's are more responsive than 12's+ but Im sure some people might disagree

I run 8's.

The biggest problem with running small drivers is finding some that can do what you need them to do, get loud and low.

The ascendant audio 8 and the digital design 8 are the 2 loudest 8's that ive ever played with.

aa8 was loud ... had 6 of them off 2500rms and did a 150 legal. but didnt have the quality I was looking for in sound

Now i rune the dd 8's just 2 of them 800rms, and it is plenty. Now i havent metered them yet but my guess is that they are doing a 140 on music, not bad for 2 little 8's.

When I demo them I always ask poeple to guess what I have in there, and i get it all..

2 12's, a fifteen, 2 badass tens etc.. they never guess 8's

have fun.

when JL came out with their 6.5 subwoofer I did 30 of them in an extended cab ram. They got pllenty loud and was a real shocker to people, I think it metered around 145 on the old termlab, so probably 142-3ish on the new TL....

Some people need a sympathetic pat... on the head...with my hammer
