looking good bro. you every though about putting kinetik batteries in? not to knock optima because i have one underhood ......... but seeing kinetik batteries run around if not a lil bit more than optima and have more CCA's i want to run them. looking good though man, nice clean up

Thanks. I already have the optimas, so I'm sticking with them for now, but in the future I might go with something else. Also the side-posts make the way I have things set up possible.

The box with the port in it, almost ready

Posted Image

The old port

Posted Image

The new port, still needs paint and fiberglass on it, but it's almost there.

The box now after a few more layers of fiberglass. Theres a few places that need knocked down, but other than that it's much smoother and harder.

The guy who's going to help with the vinyl may or may not be able to do it tomarrow, so I'll find out when he can.

More pics wed/thu?

I've been pretty busy with work, so this has taken longer than I intended. A guy (thanks will) vinyled the main box and showed me what to do, so I did the port. It was my first attempt but honestly with as basic as the shapes were there wasn't a whole lot to it.

Okay... photobucket seems to be down for now, so I'll post the pics up this evening when I get home.

I got the box vinyled and put back in, and now I'm ready to wire up the box, pop the subs in, and throw in 1 memphis 4k to hold me over. If it doesn't do the numbers I'm looking for I might be just starting over and building a new box.

OK, just pics. I'm pretty tired, I installed a cd player in my wifes car, and hooked everything up in mine. The trim plate will make it look much better when I get that painted, but I'm not going to put the other amps in till I get some alts.

And putting the subs in:

You can see how close the sub is to the port

Done! I'll have to wire things again to 1 ohm for all 4 amps, but it's ready to go other than that. (and the trim plate of course).

Here's a quick vid with the last bit of battery the camera had:

Please tell me the sub isn't touching on the port at all.... ??

Or it just appears that way from camera angles?

No, thats as good a shot as I could get (camera sitting on the port).

The sub is not on the port, but it only has about 1/8" of clearance. It's not just sitting on it though :P

Really close fit.

I have a 03 Yukon with the Bose system. Where is the factory amp located? A shop wired up my whole system, and it looked like they wired it up with new speaker wires running from my JL 450/4 but when I poped off the door panels I saw they had spliced into the factory wiring. I want to know where the stock amp is located to see if the are running the factory amp with my 450/4. That way I can remove the factory amp.
