infinity Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 to the chassis of the vehicles The chassis has the most negative current. All you have to do is clean the surface and get rid of and paint that is there =) Hopefully someone can give a full explanation
95_1500 Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 Drill a hole in the frame, sand it down to bare shiny metal, attach ring terminal to frame through said hole with bolt and tighten.. Original Build http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/index.php?showtopic=24095
ALPINE408 Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 The best place is the neg on you batt /thread Have you ever had your woofers blown?
Jared420 Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 Neg on a battery is good, Only if the negative on the battery is grounded to your frame or chassis with good wire preferably 1/0 gauge. Personally I ground my amp to my rear battery since its like a 2 foot run from amp to battery and thats grounded to the front battery which is grounded to my frame which I sanded, drilled and tapped. Very solid connection to the frame. If you dont have a tapset a nut and bolt will work as long as you sand it down to bare metal. 2012 silverado ext cab ltz 24" kmc rims AudioQue 2200 Pioneer AppRadio Alpine mrx f35 4 channel Bose mids and highs Iraggi Alt + stock alt in a DC power dual alternator kit Yellowtop+stock under hood 0 gauge Knu wire Big 3 4 gauge stinger (4 chan wiring) 3 DC 10'' LVL3 with LVL4 parts
OrionStang Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 Would a motor-mount bolt to the chassis be a good place to ground the battery? I do rear batt neg to front batt neg, front batt neg to motor mount bolt. SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
mbdblue Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 also for all vehicles that don't have frames (unibodies) I always trust stock ground locations. good thing about them is theres already a bolt there and you know it works. King Zick Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 Make sure you ground to the FRAME of the car. Too many people make the mistake of grounding to a piece of sheet metal. A good ground is VERY important to a good electrical. IMHO, you're only as good as your electrical. I upgraded my electrical before I bought my amp or subs. The King.

skittlesRgood Posted July 28, 2010 Report Posted July 28, 2010 the alt charges the battery and the wire really only needs to be able to handle the output of the alt. if you ground the amps to the battery there is no current from the amp that goes through the chassis so you dont NEED more wire from battery to chassis. if you ground the amp to the chassis then you need to upgrade the battery ground because all the amp's current needs to go through that wire. remember that DC flows from - to +. that ground is just as important as the power wire. If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood.
