The wife and I had an anniversary coming up and have been trying to think of something nice to do for the both of us. We have had saltwater aquariums for about four years now. always small ones and we had pretty much grown tired of them and what you could do with them. We decided for our anniversary we'd get a new tank. This is what we decided on

its a 150gallon extra high.

You dont even want to know how much money we have wrapped up in aquarium stuff. the tank stand and canopy alone were around 1800 the dimensions of this thing are 48x24dx30h. I have to get my entire arm in the tank to reach the bottom.

Dude trust me I was looking at turning my 60gal fresh into salt, the light hood i wanted was gonna cost like 1200, and all the other equipment i was pricing was gonna be another 12--=1300, and that's not counting the live sand, live rocks, or fish, which would add another 500-600 for me. Salt reefs are expensive bitches

take baby steps, u cant do it all at once unless u have a roll of 100's big enough to choke a donkey

i bet you would love the tank my cousin has. its 3 tanks flush in the wall with a wet room behind it. very bad ass.

If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood.

oh saltwater is not that hard. its expensive to set up. there is a plethora of information out there that makes it easier. I had no knowledge of this when we first started doing it.

They're pricey and also very tme consuming. Getting them started takes a lot of patience and you need to do a lot of research as to what you can put in the tank and with what levels of salt in the water. Once they're up and running they look good, but if you don't have the time to take care of them they'll die in no time. We had one (55gal tank) and it was a pain, ended up getting rid of it.

^^

$5200 is nothing for 150g, get ready to spend 5 times more money in your first year.

i have salt and fresh water fish tanks. Fresh water cost me about $300 for everything. My salt water cost me $1500+ and it's only 10gallon^^. Shit goes of so quick in salt water, so you gotta check all your levels every week. Watch your calcium and KH lvls.

I know all about that stuff. the larger the tank the easier it is to maintain actually. I didnt even count the supplements and what not thats just equipment and set up. id really like to see this 1700 ten gallon
