MrSkippyJ Posted August 31, 2010 Report Share Posted August 31, 2010 Lifter? I was thinking lifter ticking, but if it a fairly new engine, that may not be it. The engine does a bit more work to maintain idle when in gear vs. when in park, that could cause lifter ticking while in gear and not in park (I think). Ram Posted August 31, 2010 Report Share Posted August 31, 2010 if your car has hit around 75-80k miles on the engine, it may be the lifters. that model altime (02-04) is notorious for the engine giving out at around 75k-90k miles and having to be replaced.
