THEKINGsBACK Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 ok so i just ordered 2 kinetik 1800s to run my orion 2500d and i put my red top back up front. now about two months ago i did the big 3 and was just running a kinetik 1800 and the red top and the big 3 for my sundown 1200.. ok soo now i wanted to up grade and i pulled the second 1800 out of the box and tried to install it and it didnt work bc i needed reverse terminals for battery soo anyway i figured ok the battery in the back didnt crank the truck and im like hummm thats not weird it should work. ok the battery reads well and what not so i get it tested and find out its not holding a load so i send it off and all is well. soo now i tried to put the red top back in today and i see the kinetik in the back is like imploding with gas or something.so my question is what the hell is causing this. ive seen other people use a optima up front with a different battery in the back but its not working for me. and i really need help cant keep wasting 250 bucks on batterys. if this has happen to you let me know. he wouldnt be the first to say they did a 167 with a system like that (one that clearly DOESNT), but i have to say, he didnt beat me anywhere, ive never competed against the guy. If he thinks his does a 167, mine would probably put him in a coma. :hairtrick:
UnderLoK Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 What are you charging at? Do you use a regular battery charger on them? Sounds like a voltage issue (either from your car or the charger you use). If at first you do not succeed, you are doing it wrong! -ARSCheck out my walled TBSS build over here4 Fi Team 18s on 2 Cactus K9 DS18 doors on 2 MBQ 1Ks, Vifa pillars on a STL4.500 Pioneer X8500 6 XS Power D7500, 1 3400S Second Skin 2 270a Mechman Alts

UnderLoK Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 How do you have it wired up, exactly (wire size, fusing, all the details)... Big 3 (how), front to rear (how), and where are you grounding in the back (are you grounding amp to batt? batt to frame or what?)? Also what year Escape? kingsuv Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 I hate to say this, but I have seen a few pallets with the same issue with swelling. I hope you can get it taken care of. I mean the first minute is ok but that thing just really starts digging deeper and deeper in your earhole till you cant stand it no more. Seems like it does it with relative ease....16 12's on 8 amps.........gotta love it.

Also what year Escape? i have zero gauge wire front to back. fused up front is 250 amp fuse to the back to another 250 to the kinetik off the kinetik i have a zero gauge wire to the sub amp 200 amps of fusing and a 4 gauge wire to the four channel with 100 amps fusing. battery grounded to clean unpainted spot about 4 inches away to body of truck. up front i have the zero gauge wire with 250 amps going to the alt.connected to the battery which is for now the optima. i just upgraded the factory ground spot and replaced it with zero gauge wire. and a zero gauge wire to the engine ground. and it is a 2001 ford escape he wouldnt be the first to say they did a 167 with a system like that (one that clearly DOESNT), but i have to say, he didnt beat me anywhere, ive never competed against the guy. fritosaregood Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 I have a friend that had 2 or 3 of the 3800s. the guy that put his alt on forgot to tell him it charged at 18v apparently, the batts popped, and since they were mounted inside his box, the sub terminals grew that green and white battery corrosion stuff. they kinda looked like that^^ only they had a big whole on top too, haha seller feedback: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...showtopic=61719 http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...showtopic=68281 build log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/index.php?showtopic=44800 Gf's build: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/54346-kickergirls-camaro-new-box-pg-5/#entry753970
