Line-driver to run multiple amps

Recommended Posts

so, can somebody point me in the right direction? I'm looking for a decent line driver to run 3 pairs of strapped mono-amps (maybe more)  what are my options besides Y-splitters?  maxx-link? are those still available? any others?

If you're going to strap them all wouldn't that entail running RCA's from your master to each slave? Can't you just daisy-chain them that way, master to slave to slave to slave...etc?

they ain't rockfords, they just do a pair strapped

in any case, I will also have  an option of getting amps that don't strap at all

Ah, didn't know you couldn't do that. Sorry =/

I would say a Maxxlink would be your best bet probably, but on Sonic Electronix I found a Hifonics EQ that claims 9V line driver capabilities, maybe you could use that or something similar and then just run splitters to the amps?

it is my understanding that the maxx-link is also VERY voltage sensitive. if you consistently see over 15v charging, the maxxlink will smoke out... This is of course only what i've read. Audiopipe makes a 30$ splitter box type setup that has 1 set of inputs for f/r and sub, the 3 sets of outputs all given 4v outpus.... that should be helpful to ya...

EDIT.... Here ya go ( http://cgi.ebay.com/AUDIOPIPE-MULTI-AMP-4V-LINE-DRIVER-AMPLIFIER-SPLITTER-/290327882398?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4398e3ea9e )

wayyyy back in the day, 95 or so... we would use a small amp hidden away with the outputs running the inputs of the other amps... especially later when the Phoenix Gold ZPA amps came out.

...but now since you have line drivers I would suggest what we used to do... again back in the day... we would get a project box from radio shack or use plexi and make our own...

drill openings on 1 side for a left and right female RCA wall mount, and then on the opposite side do the same for as many amps you are going to run. just solder from the input RCA's to the output RCA's using 18 gauge wire (which is still thicher than 99% of the RCA's out there)

Sometimes we would run into problems where one input would have to run 8-10 amps, we would just use a small barrier strip to make it easy.

You can have some serious fun with it also when building it, like adding LED lighting, especially today with the colored LED lighting that can do a strobe effect

And you can obviously 1 up everyone in the lanes, neighborhood, and possibly make a few bucks doing it for your buddies

As posted above just daisy chain them together just be sure to check each set of rcas for there voltage to make sure everything is right.

i guess you didnt read his posts. you cant daisy chain all the amps when you strap them. he will still need to split the RCA 3 ways, as he has 3 sets of amps.

i honestly dont know shit about the maxx-link. but i do know that i see a lot of people doing high numbers are using them. so i figure it cant be a bad product lol.

If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood.
