Cashdollar2009 Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 AQ 3500, hands down. Not even a fair comparison. Friend runs a 3500D on his XL's and it does the job. Plus, I cannot say a whole lot due to lack of personal experience, but I have also heard plenty of horror stories to avoid DAT for a minute. Boon Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 does it really matter? Yeah dude. Count the under-20 dreamer's we have on here in the last while? Alpine, BassAddict32, Sniper all come to mind. They come in like WHATS A GREAT AMP TO RUN ON THE 4 BTLs IM BUYING NEXT WEEK?! People, for some odd reason, believe them, and give them all sorts of advice. It's a waste of their time and encourages these kids to make attention-seeking posts on the internet. I've even seen people do box designs etc etc for these kids for it to all come to nothing. I'm not saying it's impossible, I've seen a couple of kids throw together some very decent stuff. I was lobbing around a few kw when I was 18 or 19 so I know it can be done. Just in my experience, its often kids dreaming out loud on the internet. When I see a pic of a BTL with his screen name and date in the photo, I'll be happy to give them all the advice they want, box designs, etc etc. I'll be stoked to see something big from a young person. But until I see some proof that they're serious, I don't like to see good folk potentially wasting their time. 10.x volts fo' life!

sundownz Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 has anyone tested a Aq amp? I'm sure lots of people have. They are pretty popular online. - Jacob Fuller - Owner, Sundown Audio - Sundown Audio on FACEBOOK - Please DO NOT PM ME -- use my email address -- [email protected]
cc_audio Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 The right advice for this thread would be "Hey why don't you start a little bit smaller and work up." Buy a single used 18" BTL or similar sub and a used 1.5-2.5k amp. That's a ton of money saved and might actually be possible for you to afford right away. Not to mention that will be very loud still and you'll have bass sooner. I know when I was your age I had a thousand and one hobbies aside from car audio that took my money, and still do. You can always add to your stereo as your money comes in. Start with this initial small setup and then as time goes on you can add an alternator, then another sub, then another amp, a couple more batts, pretty soon you'll have your monster setup. And building new boxes for more equipment is cheap and easy as long as you DIY. Where as if you attempt to buy it all new from the get go its probably not going to happen. It's all gone! I believe you tested the original AQ3500 and it did rated I've been running AQ3500's for the past 2 years, never had a problem and I've run them at .5ohm daily and have wired down to .25ohm for burps.
