Moley
I have a genesis coupe and am doing the big 3. I have the 2 negative wires done ( battery to chassis/engine block to chassis ) done but I was wondering about the wire from battery + to alternator. The stock wire goes from the alternator into some black box and then to the battery. What is this black box? and When I hook up the big 0 g wire can I just simply run it from the alternator directly to the battery. Will this mess with sensors or regulators or anything? thanks. deeje
Is it a fuse block? And on some vehicles it goes directly to battery but genetaly they go to a fuse block somewhere first. CrossfireExpedition
More than likely its a "Fusible Link". My Expediton has similar, Im leaving that wire in and just adding 0ga with a fuse on it. The power will take the path of least resistance. baaudio
My explorer had something like that. I replaced all factory wires with 4 gauge so I went alt to black box then to batt. Then I ran my 1/0 straight from the alt to the battery with a fuse near the batt Quote Team NWSPL baaudio Build Log 2001 GMC Sierra walkthrough 4 Mechman Elite 370s, 10 AGM batteries, 3 Crossfire XS v2 18s, Crossfire 8k
Ao1FTW
Mine goes to something else on my car too before it hits the batt. I just added a run of 0g and a fuse and shes good to go! Hotdog
Mine is like that too... Just run 1/0 from Alternator to Battery with a inline fuse and you will be good. Moley
Cool......I will just leave the stock wire and add a 1/0 directly from alt to battery. Hopefully it will be fine. I have another question. Where is the voltage regulator. Is it part of the alternator?
