Technical difficulties with a sub...

I didn't ask for posts regarding omg audiobahn sucks. I am audiobahn and will be these subs hit harder then any I have had, Including audiopipe which is the fanboi setup these days. The only problem is unlike the orion HCCA's you cannot just unscrew it from the basket to change the coil once it is done.

lol nothing "fanboi" about audiopipe subs. i dont see many people using them and the ones that do are just using them because they are cheap.

no one said anything bad about audiobahn, just that the subs are really old and not worth much. think my subs will be worth much in 10 years? probably not. why does every noob take things so personally?

BTW, back in 2000, I competed with two 12" of the previous versions of those, subs. I did a 150.1 on the old meter which is about a 143dB nowadays.

That was pretty darn good I must say.

But one day a magnet fell off one of the woofers.

Guess I shouldnt try and aid with my experience if feelings will be hurt. I only have parts that can fit sitting here in front of me but oh well. And yes they can cost $75. And someone else to do it would cost labor.

And no Audiobahn is not bankrupt, they just relaunched and are coming back. But you have an older model that I have not seen parts for in years.

That woofer is a 2" coiled woofer, a low end model. If you had a warranty issue and sent it back to Audiobahn, they would not repair it, they would toss it and send a new one.

Guess how I know? Because I work in the same industry, I know the people at Audiobahn, and I know the standards set down for warranty and repairs.

If a woofer is below a certain cost, it is just simply not worth it to repair.

Maybe you can get parts cheaper, but to know the exact sizes of what will fit, the sub will have to be torn apart and measured.

I only want the smoked one repaired I can live with the difference as long as it can push 600RMS still I am fine.

I don't care how old they are, actually old is better, noone makes them like they use to. I had an oldschool set of 350 watt eclipse, out pounded everything in the modern class with an Optimus amp(thats right the bottom of the barrel amps) I like old and I like this, And I would pay to have this one fixed. simple as that

I don't think you understand. If you have one repaired its basically a different sub so you won't have a matching set, hence why ed recommended doing both not just one

But the idea that older is better with subwoofers is not really valid.

The technology hasnt progressed that much, but materials and building techniques of modern woofers far out perform older woofers. I am 100% positive, you can get a modern woofer to outperform and outlast those Audiobahns for the same price range.

Not to bash your pick in subs, I am just telling the truth, I was an Audiobahn dealer and have used them in the past, but the models you have and most Audiobahn's from that era, fell apart very easily. They may have sounded OK compared to others of that era. But they put more $$ in the shine, then the quality.

I had brand new woofers out of the box that customers bought and the fell apart in my hands, the used a plastic triple joint collar and under cone for the aluminum cone woofers and it simply fell off.

And I have seen magnets fall off a few subs right out of the box.

And after playing for some time, those coils get very hot and glue starts to release and their woofers arent bolted together and use as strong glues as new woofers do.

For a similar price of each woofer, the T-600 I make would out perform and out last those Audiobahns. I'd stake my claim on it.

But if you really are adamant about staying with those and keeping them going, which is fine. My suggestion is to just buy another one. It would most likely be more cost effective.

oh you missread i think, I paid 100 for both of them in box, assuming you are referring to the T3 subs, I have been trying to find another one, however all the ones I found (which are over seas are 300+ dollars per one.

I shouldve never sold my duvals(if you have ever heard of them) 15 inchers they banged good.
