skittlesRgood
Problem with 8s isn't really the motor, but the coil. A 3" coil pretty much takes up the whole suspension. Which would equal pretty much no Xmax. That and IMO would be hard to keep the cone linear. The power handling would be good though power handling cant be good if the speaker cant move. the coils are cooled by air. skittlesRgood
as the coil moves up and down it lets air in and forces it back out. thats what does the vast majority of the cooling. thats why clipping burns up a coil, it limits the movement of the speaker. VOPA
Mybe you guys should look into Sundown, if Jacob's plans come out, that 3" Coil will be 100% reality. Good idea but tooling your own baskets are hella expensive. Ask rusty about the level 6 baskets. Quote 2006 F-150 4 DC XL M2 18's Walled Daily Driver XS Power 4 DC 3.5kw Team DC Team S.P.L. Autruche
Hmm, an 8" version of a sub that's excursion pretty much requires an 8" spider Something tells me it might not work. And as if the level 5 10" wasn't difficult enough to make because of the motor size. Would be funny though. Quote Need Test Tones/Sine Waves?
