2 subs sharing same port

x2 I've never understood how to do this exactly so I just stick a piece in the middle of the port and make it basically two boxes...

you need a 90' triangle at the end of the mouth where the ports meet or you are gonna have cancelation like none other. think about the air and sound pressure meeting face to face from each chamber, its gonna be horrible. i'd say get 2 45' degree pieces of sonotubne, glue em together, and have your 90' piece. keep in mind the mouth side of your port (ex. 5 inches) you want to maintain that 2.5" of port per chamber so you are looking at either 4" or 6" pvc or sonotube.

Combined would need to be 43, so at the split you half it, think of it like one box for one sub, would the port need to 43 long? Hope that helps.

Yes, when it splits the port width splits as well. a 5 inch port will turn into two 2.5" legs just like you have in the drawing.

OK AMI, so when you say that the length splits, does that mean once it hits the back, which in this case would be 25" back, then to get to the rest of 43, do I add 18 to both side, or 9?

My first thought is 9, but it would depend on if you are going to put some kind of divider on that back wall to split the ports?

1. is one box with a terrible design

2. is optimal for sound.

3. will be alost as good as 2, but you wont be able to see the port, if thats what you're going for.

the way i look at it, if you want ports in the middle, go with round ports, if not, go with a square port on the side, unless you want to do a serious design.

oh, and when you put a piece in the middle of the ports it DOES change it from one box to 2 boxes, the subs are not sharing the same chamber or port, therefore, 2 seperate boxes, combined at the port wall, to form one box, with 2 seperate chambers and ports.
