MECHMAN Posted November 25, 2010 Report Share Posted November 25, 2010 You will want the pulley diameter on the motor to be about double the diameter of the alternator pulley if the engine turns 2800 rpm. That will give you full output capability. Also, remember to never hook that charger up to your battery bank if they are heavily discharged, otherwise you will run the risk of overheating the batteries and the alternator. TonyD'Amore Posted October 23, 2012 Report Share Posted October 23, 2012 One minor problem here. Lets assume a 300 Amp alt at 14V = 4200 watts output. Assume 80% efficiency to convert the energy: so input to the electric motor = 5250 watts. So at 110V that would be 48 amps (not gonna happen).
