mako22
hi guys...im just wandering what cind of sub diameter would be the best to pick up low frequencys in songs?
Sammitch0
Cone Diameter has nothing to do with tuning and Hz. 18's and 10's can hit the SAME notes depending on the box. I would just suggest a 12 or 15 for massive low hits in a 35hz tuned box. Autruche
Size of the sub has nothing to do with how low it will play. The fs of the sub has to do with how low the sub likes to play, but the most important factor is your box and tuning. For instance a box tuned to 38Hz will not hit the lows as good as a box tuned to 32Hz. Quote Need Test Tones/Sine Waves? mako22
so there is no problem in the diameter..its all in the box and the tuning of the box.?
nCOMP1337
basically, i tried to explain same thing to my neighbor, he said " I want to get 18s, but they cant hit the lows." So i tried to explain this same principle and he still doesnt understand, but yea box and tuning, i believe the box being tuned, it will have a range of frequencies which it can hit give or take some, im not sure how wide this range goes, but like the guy said above, 38 hz tuning wont get the lows as good as 32 hz tuning
Autruche
so there is no problem in the diameter..its all in the box and the tuning of the box.? Yes. a ported box has an increase in the amount of output within about 5-10Hz of the tuning frequency. So if you tune your box in the low 30s the lower notes, like under 40Hz, will come in louder, but you won't hit a 50Hz note as loud as you will with a box tuned for 40Hz. I will give you an example. In my friends explorer I did an interchangeable port. When we had the 36Hz port in the box it hit the high bass note in the song "put on" (55Hz) like crazy, but it had nothing on the lowest note (28Hz) then we put in the 32Hz port and the low note came in much better, but the high note wasn't nearly as intense anymore. So if i want to hit both notes i need a box tuned at 34Hz? i understood what you said but im trying to find a solution where i can be happy hitting both notes (55Hz and 28Hz) really good. or does something like that not exist? 2000LaDe
are people making random names and asking the stupidest questions ?
2000LaDe
your box will always have a peak note. the goal is to try to build the right box so that the fall off is not drastic above and below the peak note. try to build a flat response box. not easy to do but can be done.
