03' Tahoe Build - 2 RE Audio 18s - full ICE install... And a Cummins 4bta Swap

Hey guys...

Got a decent amount of work done today before the weather got crappy... now its raining and 38 outside so I'm done for the day...

On to the pics... I got the main box built besides the top and port... but anyways...

Just for giggles...

This box is friggen huge... one of the biggest Ive built.

My power cable... keeping the whole setup removeable (I get 2/0 welding cable for free from my work's welding supplier)

And getting retired after 4 cars and nearly 6yrs of abuse

These subs/amp have been in 4 different boxes... ported, sealed, 3^3ft - 6^3ft... and have been holding 1300rms for the whole time... Now after that time, Ive managed to sell the enclosure (which will be fully carpeted) and subwoofers for $400... around $50 less then what I had in them when I bought them the first time.

Anyways... more to come in the coming weeks... Planning on ordering the subs monday and hoping they will make it here before christmas but we'll see... still have a lot of bracing to do in the box and get the port built and installed...

Subwoofers are on the way... I ended up getting model number SX18D4s... which I believe are the early style sx woofers which Ive heard are better then the sxx series...

Anyways... should be here wed. or thursday... I need to get the box finished or atleast ready for the woofer cutouts by then so we'll see what happends

When someone says I should go with a double baffle... I assume they mean double thickness?

Also... In the past, Ive drilled the mounting holes in the baskets out to 1/4" and used 1/4" "T" nuts with 1/4-20 allen bolts for mounting the drivers... Is this a good way of doing it or is there a better option? On the 4-10 enclosure, Ive actually pulled bolts though the basket on several occasions... thats why I started doing this... but if there are better ways of doing it, I would rather go that route.

Keep in mind.. this is my first build of this scale.

t nuts will work fine get some bracing in that box you'll be glad you did.

You should prolly Have the equipment on hand before posting a buildlog...

Well... I have all of the cable... the box to build... the amplifier... and multiple batteries to install... Only thing I dont have is the woofers so why is that an issue?

Anyways... box starts today... hopefully I'll get some pics up tonight.

Lol... I didnt want to stir the pot or anything but didnt know there was an actual issue or if it was just an opinion...

Anyways... t-nuts it is... and I will definately be bracing the box... not sure about the double baffle still... but we'll see.

I'm quickly running out of mdf.. I'm trying to use up all of the scrap from previous builds... so far Ive used almost 2 sheets worth and I think I have enough left to get atleast one baffle... and if there is enough for two... two it is.

Drivers will be here wednesday... in the mean time... I need another sheet of mdf to get the baffle built... and I'll be building the port in my spart time at work tomorrow.... Hopefully I'll be able to get it together wed. night... if not it'll be playable by thursday evening.
