SPLadd1ct
Hello SMD community, I am building a groundpounder system in my 2006 Hyundai Tiburon GT. It will consist of an Incriminator Audio Warden 15" 1.4 ohm DVC (wired in parallel to the amp to see a theoretical 0.7 ohm load) and a DD M4a amplifier if I can find one for the right price or a Stetsom 7k, if not possibly a Sundown Audio 4500D. I just wanna run a clean 3500 watts to her. My electrical is a Mechman 220 amp alternator, XS power D2400 up front, two XS power D3100's in the back, with 3/0 gauge wire going from the front battery to the back battery, and 1/0 gauge wire for the rest. I understand impedance rise is a big factor in SPL comps, but must I be worried about this for a daily groundpounder system?? I just wanna build a solid system that sees a continuous 3500 WRMS, without power robbing impedance rise. I feel stuck and am not sure of my next step. Just for reference my box will be 4 cubic feet tuned to 34 hertz. Any information is appreciated fellas! MrSkippyJ
Can you please provide me with a more precise and detailed answer than just, "No"?? Your impedance changes with every frequency you play through your subs. You can either play a single note and get the most out of your amp, get a constant power amp that puts out constant power across a small range of ohms, or not worry about it. If you already have your amp, don't worry about it. Rogers
with comp vehicles its all about getting maximum power at a certain frequency... with us being ground pounders, we play all different frequencies. impedance will change with frequency, therefore it doesnt matter what your rise is since you measure rise on a burp at a certain frequency... the only way to combat impedance rise in a daily system is MOARR POWEERR EDIT: damn shkibbybop... ninja'd the shit out of me Edited December 12, 2010 by Rogers Quote http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/79921-rogers-700-dream-car-update-page-17-a-wall/?p=2335774 93 Saturn SC2My system4 SA-15's Walled 2 Cerwin-Vega S2000's 3 Kinetik Hc2000's Dual 200amp alts. you guys done with the peepee touching contest or do I need to end it? Superjay
you won't notice it anyway. Since impedance rises pretty sharply at resonance (both port resonance and sub resonance) but SPL also increases at both resonant frequencies it should not matter at all to you. korey_hofer
impedence rise saves your drivers when ran daily, there is no sub out right now that can take a true 7k clamped for very long Quote previously known as wenn_du_weinst aka fucking internet coward supreme.
