Hi everyone! My name is Neil.

I drive a 2011 Smart Brabus Fortwo.

It's a 1L turbo engine rocking about 105hp from factory.

First thing is first when it came. The battery needed changing. The XS Power 5100 was a straight fit so it was the obvious choice and was ordered from Am at Blde Ice. But before that, not even having owned the car for 6 hours, the earth straps were upgraded both on the engine and the battery (stock at the time). An air filter was added as well from my old smart (had a non-turbo before that)

That went in with a dual 0 gauge earth on it.

Next was the choice for beat. The alts in these cars aren't the biggest or strongest at 90a as well as space being at a premium.

I ended up with the JL Audio HD900/5 for the amplifier, the Audison bit10d for the processor as I wanted to keep the factory nav. A pair of hertz high energy hsk165 components running the front stage actively and a 10W7 in the high output taking care of the bass.

and now some pics of the midbass drivers being installed.

I used a layer of dynamat across the whole door and then further added to it with flashband. The results really do speak for themselves. I've the midbasses running all the way down to 60Hz comfortably.

Both the amplifier and the signal processor are under the driver's side seat and are completely hidden. The only thing on show is the bit10d's remote control with found it's home in the cup holder quite nicely! The earth point is below the carpet there.

The high output box from JL is massive to say the least. needless to say it was delivered on a pallet and many thought it wouldnt fit....but it did (Just!)

Can't hear you by NeilllP, on Flickr

after getting all the sound done (picked the car up in August and the install completed in September, I got a set of steel wheels and prepped them as winters for protection...in that a set of KW V2 coilover were added and left the exterior looking like this:

fast forward to two weekends ago when I finally managed to get rid of the winter blues this happened:

I've not had the system metered, nor has it seen an RTA machine, but I've currently got it sounding very loud and very clean and I am very happy with it so far. I do reckon a few tweaks here and there are needed though, but that is purely down to the settings on the processor itself!

Thanks for looking, all comments greatly appreciated!

My Dad used to have a 2010 (2009?) ForTwo, whichever model year was the first to make it to the States. It was fun, but I could NOT stand the transmission. Slowest-shifting thing on earth. Did they re-map it or anything on the Brabus model? That's a sweet looking one, by the way.

Fronts are actually really simple.

Door pops right off.

Hell you can actually change every body panel in 30min.

Color changes are very simple on those cars.
