Box software

Recommended Posts

Curious what software people are using. I tried WIN and found get it to accept my driver parameters but then wouldn't save. Anyone have helpful ideas or suggestions on what software. Thanks.

Search............. or use google

Google is always my step one. I'm asking for personnel opinions here not opening the flood gates of useless programs.

If you're on a budget, like I am, I use a handful of free/open source programs. None give you the all-in-one convenience of Bassbox or Termpro, but I think they get the job done.

WinISD to play with enclosure size and tuning frequency, and check port size vs. port velocity, gives me my raw targets

Take that info, go into Torres enclosure calculator to figure out your dimensions and port length

Model in Google Sketchup to see if you can actually fit the sub/port in the enclosure and figure out the design. Once you have the box modeled, I copy paste each of the panels onto a 4'x8' rectangle to make a cut sheet/cut plan and see how many sheets of MDF I'll need.

Is that the perfect way, or even the best way? Couldn't say, but it gets the job done for me.

For the bulk of my modeling work i use winISD and Torres. I have recently received a copy of bass box pro. I have not had really any time to work with bbp as of yet though. As a result I don't really have an opinion on that piece of software.

That said, I do hope in the next few weeks to order term-pro. From the research I have done so far it does seem like that's a real nice piece of software.
