high pitched noise

Alright so pretty much ever since I've had my 80PRS I've had a small high pitched whine in my system, but it's been so faint that you couldn't really hear it.

I figured that it had to do with my hu ground so this past weekend I tore apart my system to replace the ground. Now the high pitched noise is far more

noticeable. Just to see if it was my rca I took a spare and ran it across the seat, and the noise is still there. Oddly when I was unplugging the rcas, for

every rca I unplugged the noise got louder. Also Idk if this has anything to do with it, but when I was disconnecting everything, I had power off the headunit,

and a 1.5 rca jumper I had going to my PAC LC-1 caught on fire.

I agree with this statement above, pioneer have issues with their pico fuses blowing in the headunit, when this happens it lifts the grounds.

I did try grounding the rca jacks after it happened, and it offered no solution. I still don't know how the rca caught on fire, but I'm wondering if some kind of current travelling through the rca friend something in the hu.

No idea why an RCA would (or could) start on fire.

But hot swapping RCAs is a big no-go. Especially with Pioneer. Google pico fuse noise.

Static drops are my bag.

idk how it could have happened either, there was no power on the headunit bc I have already unplugged the wiring harness.

Your RCA ground is a better ground than your amp ground apparently.

but that rca wasn't hooked to the amp, but that being said, I haven't checked my ground recently. It's tied to the frame, and I usually check it periodically to see if it has loosened. I want to say that while I was doing this I had removed power from my distro block, so there wasn't any power on the amps either, but I can't remember.

I had a similar issue with my 80prs was sending voltage thru rcas even when hu and amps where off. Sounds like a defective hu. I got warranty on mine and got a new one and no more issues. Hope you get it figured out
