Forevrbumpn Posted December 12, 2008 Report Posted December 12, 2008 I have had a few different motors laying around in my garage, some frames, I have bunch of spiders, and a few cones, but I decided to piece up a woofer that will play loud, long, and hard. So I ordered up a really tough coil, 18.5 gauge windings, 1.7ww, vented former, flat wind alum, dvc 2ohm 8 layer coil. Ordered some spiders, and cones, and have some other stuff on the way for some other builds. Basically, I will also be doing local reconing, OEM sub modifying, home and car audio. Completely re engineer ground up, or just simple repairs. Anyways, this is my first woofer build in a line of recones. I just figured I would show my process. Got a motor triple slug, 225oz mag, 0.5" top plate, vented and bumped back plate The coil, this is monster The new frame attached to the motor, getting ready for a dry build, so I can make any changes before I start gluing Painting the frame to match the motor, both Rhino lined- stuff looks great in person, don't let the glare fool you. This motor has been sitting around for awhile, so cleaning, dusting and inspecting is very crucial Voice coil gap is about 0.215" so that left me with just barely enough gap between coil, and top plate, VERY TIGHT- 0.015"- 0.025" between pole piece and voice coil. Have to set the height, make sure the coil is directly in the middle of the top plate, or the moving assembly will not move linear basic dry build, every thing looking good Talk about EXTREME Leads!- stiched, and threads glued in place with rubber based glue More to come tomorrow I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.

This one Iam even going to space the frame away from the motor structure 0.5" so I don't have to cut the former, just so I can use this really cool inverted Dome. I also have to make a custom tooled spider spacer/clamp ring, that will be really cool. I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.
