Beware of this Telephone Scam! "Microsoft" Says Your Computer Has a Virus.. the reason i am posting this is because they have tried to call me twice on our rarely used land-line. The wife got the first one and came to me concerned with the phone in her hand. She said "someone from Microsoft is calling about a virus on the computer"... I said "gimme that". The guy had hung up. It was a private number. i thought nothing of it really until the next day they called back. This time, i answered. She said "sir, we have reason to believe you have a virus on your computer and we need to fix it right away". I look down at my water cooled GAMING RIG with all the bells and whistles and i say "bitch, you don't know anything about my computer" she said "excuse me sir, but we need you to type in this we address to try to resolve this virus". I said "you must not have heard me, don't know shit about my pc so why are you calling"? she, in her "east indian" voice (guessing), says, "please watch your language" and hung up. Private call again so i couldn't call back. Havent got one since. I know you guys aren't dumb enough to fall for this but make sure you tell the wife and kids! Oh I don't give the users credit at all. Hell I got a ticket from our amazing helpdesk last month from a user that called in because ANTS where coming out of her keyboard. What am I supposed to do about that? BITCH STOP EATING OVER YOUR KEYBOARD. I finally got around to calling her a few days later. "Hey this is Desktop services, I hear you have ants" "Yeah, I did, I sprayed them with a bunch of raid, I got really sick, but I'm better now and the ants are gone so that's good" :: at this point I mute the phone because I'm laughing hysterically. :: "Well that's good, glad it all worked out, have a nice day" I got another one from a lady who claimed she couldn't get pages to load unless she rocked her computer back and fourth. You know, like a baby.

Its social engineering at its finest. Alot of people will fall for it. Youre giving the average user too much credit when in reality.a large portion of computer users are dumb as rocks
