  1. Diggin' the 55! I spy a 70 Chevelle in the garage. You wouldn't believe it, but my dad has better than 100 cars. It looks like a junk yard, but there are several gems in it. You guys actually are getting some running. Great Job!
  2. You are ahead of me for building your new box! I don't know how the btls like to be tuned but I might tune a bit lower if it is going to be a daily.... Maybe as low as 30? It all depends on how big the box is and how much wattage you are going to give them.
  3. That game does look killer! Too bad for me I don't have a 360 or PS3 yet. LOL I have fond memories of Street Fighter Alpha 3- me and my college apartment buddies playing that until midnight. Then out came the Silent Hill.
  4. Very true... you are just lowering the volume on an already clipped track.
  5. Yep... prob clipped signal. Tweets feel the pain first.
  6. In my van, I have had them in the doors, on the dash, (not in the pillars- but the dash was pretty close), and now they are in the kicks (if an Astro has such). I put them as low, as far forward and to the left and right as I could. I also put them very close to the door pods I made. It Images better than it ever did and sounds better. To each their own, you may like it better with a different sound. That is just what worked for me. Why not try them in all of the different locations without making anything final- just a quick mock up with lots of extra wire to move them around? See what sounds best for you in your car.
  7. As crazy as it sounds.... the kicks or as far in that direction as you can. Close to the mids as possible and as far away from your ear as you can get them. That sounded the best and imaged the best for me.
  8. I used both Audacity and MP3 gain to lower the level on this track, but the bass still sounds off because of the "boxed" waves. If your buddy still has a lower level master track, maybe he can fix it- other than the clipping, pretty good. Def. more than I can do- which is nothing.
  9. For the cheap, these are supposed to be pretty good tweets that scream: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.c...iewRand=2770581 Or for a bit more, you can go classy and these still get loud without being harsh... at all: http://cgi.ebay.com/McIntosh-tweeters-perf...p3286.m20.l1116
  10. That's sweet man. It won't be long until the weather gets really nice for the drags. I went to one just about 2 weeks back. That's good stuff.
  11. That vid is sweet man! You better be careful how high you set that bar!!!

  14. Really sorry for your losses- but x1,000,000 on you being a good, stand up man. Much respect to you.
  15. Thanks. It's own style of on the cheap and did it myself Yeah, those little Tang-Band woofers aren't too shabby. Nothing amazing, but they do quite well for their size. They will jump a good 1/2 inch if you push them to it.
  16. Nothing special at all- but they sound good and image well- 2 4" old school kevlar cone JBL GTi mids and one 5.25" Tang-Band woofer in each box. 3/4 front baffle, loads of resin and glass, bondo, polyfil in the box. They look pretty plain, but I def. don't have the skill or patience of some of you guys. They are nice and solid. On with the pics.... I used dowel rods and hot glue to get the depth and angle right Wrapped for resin Resin done and bondo begins... btw- NEVER resin speaker box carpet. That may be a duh, but it sucked. That stuff soaked up so much resin it was crazy. When it was finished it was strong though... so, it just took a while, then I had to re-resin and glass after that... so- just added a step. You can see the 2 silk dome McIntosh tweets in the "kicks" in the Astro.... if you want to call them that. I know it is dirty and old and faded....
