  1. If you're going to learn one thing from here, it's to do stuff right the first time. new batt under the hood (something like a powermaster 5100, kinetic 1400/1800) 200+ amp alt, big 3 in 0 (charge line from alt to positive, ground from batt to chassis, and batt to rear batt) and then something like powermaster d3100/kinetic hc2400 in rear, two if you can. Really read through here and do everything right, build the box right, tune everything right, etc. Higher end stuff is a bit more finiky and a lot less forgiving, and i'm sure you don't want to blow your expensive new toy up. And yes, all that stuff is expensive, but completely necessary, you gotta pay to play.
  2. ooooh check out costco/sams club, they have surprisingly good prices on laptops and will probably have some insane prices black thursday or wtvr that sale day is coming up
  3. try and find one with xp, i ahte vista, its a resource hog if you find an xp machine, 1-2gb ram, 2.0-2.4ghz processor, integrated wifi/network, 13 inche screen is great, smaller or bigger is preference/battery life, biggest harddrive you can get. No need for audio/video cards if you're not gaming. Make sure it has a diskdrive you need (burner? cd? blu ray? dvd? if its vista, just make it 2-4gb ram, dual core processor, faster the better. I think i have a dual 2.33 centrino and its pretty nice. much lower than that and you're going to have a frustrating machine.
  4. cod5=next years futuristic version cod:world at war=this years ww2 version call of duty peeps are those kinds that dont like numerical ordering, like gta4 coming after gta1, 2, 3, london, paris, and some other expansion.
  5. .9cubes apiece sealed, glass the tub, about 2.5, bulge it out in a hump, 4 around the edges and 1 up, can be done easily (invert em if you want, they have some sexy ass ends). These guys will tell you, cone area wins any day of the week. I wanted to do it in my car but my spare tire well is like 8 inches to the left, so it would look like ass. 5 12's with 2krms will beat, and g5's sealed will sound great and play any music you want. like i said, my .02, if you want btl 15's, go for it, may end up being hard, may have to build the box in the trunk, but it's definitely doable.
  6. glass the tub and do 5 boston g5's off a t2k my .02 =)
  7. holy crap, you just gave me a plan b for this winter i really wanna do a rear deck/port thru armrest, but that looks ill, and looks like it beats pretty good.
  8. bad ground or power line for h/u?, try running a test line out the car direct to the batt, and same with the ground, just use like 14g speaker line, and see what happens, if it stops, its just a shitty something in the stock harness.
  9. definately a good starter bike. reliable, easy to fix, and very very forgiving. Plus it's one of those bikes you can push to it's absolute limit and learn how to control it, and apply that to a bigger bike. I rode one last summer and its a fun little bike, nothing extreme, but its nice. Then i hopped on a street drop, stunt gears, full cage/slider. worked out cbr 1000cc (no the 1000, 989 or something, like an '01 model) and almost killed myself, pulled a wheelie with just rolling on the throttle for the first 3 gears. IMO, get the 500, learn the ins and outs, and trade in for something bigger when you're comfortable with that
  10. yea i never even found out what happened, i drove back the next morning, the girl was still asleep and we carried her to the car, and my buddy was in zombie mode with no clue what happened either college-fun
  11. i still think the funniest thing was waking up on a couch in someone's attic, not remembering how i got to the house, with a girl from my dorm ontop of me, and a good friend of mine ontop of her, soaking wet, wearing haloween costumes (this was last year), at like 8am freezing cold, in rochester which is like 50 miles from my school.
  12. yea, practice... i think this weekend my friends killed 2 kegs with like 15-20. Before going out to the bars. I went home and missed all the fun. Was out till 3:30 with a 11am class, tomorrow no class till 4, so it should be a fun monday night. Don't ask questions, just sit back and try to keep up
  13. excuse me if i'm retarded, but are these things snorkeled or something? i cant see putting my shiney couple of thousand dollar toy in peril like that, hydrolock ftl
  14. if you're feeling adventurous, cut that pocket off, open everything up, and start glassing. It's not that hard, especially if you do alot of research first, just labor intensive. Took me about 2 weeks to do 4 pods, and i never really finished them, just got them solid smooth and mounted, and sprayed some flektone on them so they didnt look like total garbage
  15. if you get a battery with the bolt type posts, this is super easy run 0g from front + to back battery, use a ring terminal to the bolt, from the same bolt, run wires to your amps, with whatever gauge wire and ring terminal they require. run a 0g ground from the negative terminal to the chassis, and then using the same guages and ring terminals, run ground lines to the amps. basically front batt to reaar, and rear to amps, so u have 3 terminals stacked on the bolt, and then chassis to neg, and then to neg of amps, so there is again, 3 stacked on the one bolt.
  16. for reference, i dont think i've ever gotten mine to completely max out, these amps wont go into thermal or clipping protection, only voltage, i think its that hc600's fault...the lights barely dim in my car though, need to reinforce the rear ground and do a stronger rear batt to get full potential.
  17. Power: 200a iraggi alt hc1400 under hood, hc600 in trunk (getting upgraded soon) monster 0g big 3/front to rear run, kicker 4g rear bat-amp setup: 1 gto1400d (160 amp fused) 2 gto1004 (i think 80a fused, dont remember, mayb 60 apiece?)
  18. its one of those things where if you have to ask, you shouldn't do it. Stick with 12 volt for now, learn, watch the boards, do some builds, and then consider making the leap. There's only a few guys here that run a 16 volt system, and all of them are hardcore competitors.
  19. ive heard good things about those amps i hope you have 6-8 large batteries (kinetic 2400/ powermaster 3100), triple or so runs of 0 guage, and something like dual 300a alts to keep those monsters going, they suck current like you cant comprehend. really hope it's not your first system.
  20. so YOU'RE the guide to boobies i thought that was booble...you know, google for boobs.... but for real, if you search "car stereos" or "subwoofers" in google, you're going to find all the sites we'd post up....
  21. just my .02 but if the 4 batteries are in the back near the amps they should give you the current you need, but a second alt would be an excelent idea, since once those abtteries are drained down, you're going to be stuck with only 300a of current to recharge the batts and supply your system, car, lights, etc. If you plan on driving down the highway on blast, or letting it play close to max for extended periods, definately consider another alt other than that, you should be fine
  22. its all just pipe dreams right now unfortunately, between fixing the car and putting security down on a house next year, i'm next to broke, and winter is going to be time to re-do the subs, so if anything it'll be during summer....if i dont move out to my own apartment, cuz the only way i can afford a house at school AND an apartment back home is to not blow cash on my car and dumb crap plus i have to go furniture shopping ftmfl...growing up sucks...
  23. i've seen people use ipods with downloaded music from god knows where...not sure if its all official and legal though, it may be up to the discretion of judges. Try checking the rulebook of whatever association you're considering competing under
